You make us an object of reproach to our neighbors, Of scoffing and ridicule to those around us.

There certainly was no one like Ahab who gave himself over to do evil in the sight of the Lord, because Jezebel his wife incited him.He also acted very despicably in following idols, conforming to everything that the Amorites had done, whom the Lord drove out from the sons of Israel.

I will also turn this city into an object of horror and hissing; everyone who passes by it will be appalled and hiss because of all its disasters.

Now Omri did evil in the sight of the Lord, and acted more wickedly than all who were before him.For he walked entirely in the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat and in his sins into which he misled Israel, provoking the Lord God of Israel to anger with their idols.Now as for the rest of the acts of Omri which he did and his might which he displayed, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?And Omri lay down with his fathers and was buried in Samaria; and his son Ahab became king in his place.Now Ahab the son of Omri became king over Israel in the thirty eighth year of Asa king of Judah, and Ahab the son of Omri reigned over Israel in Samaria for twenty two years.Ahab the son of Omri did evil in the sight of the Lord more than all who were before him.And as though it had been a trivial thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, he married Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Sidonians, and went and served Baal, and worshiped him.So he erected an altar for Baal at the house of Baal, which he built in Samaria.Ahab also made the Asherah. So Ahab did more to provoke the Lord God of Israel to anger than all the kings of Israel who were before him.

He will swallow up death for all time, And the Lord God will wipe tears away from all faces, And He will remove the disgrace of His people from all the earth; For the Lord has spoken.

Blessed is the person who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, Nor stand in the path of sinners, Nor sit in the seat of scoffers!

For My people have forgotten Me, They burn incense to worthless gods. And they have stumbled in their ways, In the ancient roads, To walk on paths, Not on a highway,To make their land a desolation, An object of perpetual hissing; Everyone who passes by it will be astonished And shake his head.

For those who guide this people are leading them astray; And those who are guided by them are confused.

But he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and he even made his son pass through the fire, in accordance with the abominations of the nations whom the Lord had driven out before the sons of Israel.

Remember, Lord, what has come upon us; Look, and see our disgrace!

They will forget their disgrace and all their treachery which they perpetrated against Me, when they live securely on their own land with no one to make them afraid.

And this house will become a heap of ruins; everyone who passes by it will be appalled and hiss and say,‘ Why has the Lord done such a thing to this land and this house?’

Lord, in accordance with all Your righteous acts, let now Your anger and Your wrath turn away from Your city Jerusalem, Your holy mountain; for because of our sins and the wrongdoings of our fathers, Jerusalem and Your people have become an object of taunting to all those around us.

“ You shall also say to this people,‘ This is what the Lord says:“ Behold, I am setting before you the way of life and the way of death.Anyone who stays in this city will die by the sword, by famine, or by plague; but anyone who leaves and goes over to the Chaldeans who are besieging you will live, and he will have his own life as plunder.

Therefore the wrath of the Lord was against Judah and Jerusalem, and He has made them an object of terror, of horror, and of hissing, as you see with your own eyes.For behold, our fathers have fallen by the sword, and our sons, our daughters, and our wives are in captivity because of this.

Is it a trivial thing for the house of Judah to commit the abominations which they have committed here, that they have filled the land with violence and provoked Me to anger repeatedly? My eye will have no pity nor will I spare; and though they cry out in My ears with a loud voice, yet I will not listen to them.”

But I have this against you, that you tolerate the woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, and she teaches and leads My bond servants astray so that they commit sexual immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols.

behold, I will send and take all the families of the north,’ declares the Lord,‘ and I will send to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, My servant, and will bring them against this land and against its inhabitants and against all these surrounding nations; and I will completely destroy them and make them an object of horror and hissing, and an everlasting place of ruins.
