who will rule the land of Assyria with the sword, the land of Nimrod with drawn sword. He will deliver us from the Assyrians when they invade our land and march across our borders.

They will use their swords to rule over Assyria. They’ll rule the land of Nimrod with swords that are ready to strike. The Assyrians will march across our borders and attack our land. But the promised ruler will save us from them.

they shall shepherd the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod at its entrances; and he shall deliver us from the Assyrian when he comes into our land and treads within our border.

They will rule Assyria with drawn swords and enter the gates of the land of Nimrod. He will rescue us from the Assyrians when they pour over the borders to invade our land.

以色列王比加在位的日子，亞述王提革拉．毗列色前來，攻取了以雲、亞伯．伯．瑪迦、亞挪、基低斯、夏瑣、基列、加利利和拿弗他利全地，把居民擄到亞述去。

因此，耶和華論到亞述王這樣說：他不會來到這城，不會在那裡射箭，也不會拿著盾牌向城進攻，不會築起土堆圍攻它。他必循他來的路回去，他必不能來到這城，這是耶和華的宣告。為了我和我僕人大衛的緣故，我必保護這城，拯救這城。’”那天晚上，耶和華的使者出去，在亞述軍營殺了十八萬五千人。早上，他們起來的時候，看哪，到處都是死屍。

希西家王在位第四年，就是以色列王以拉的兒子何細亞在位第七年，亞述王撒縵以色上來攻擊撒瑪利亞，把城圍困；過了三年，他們就攻取了撒瑪利亞。希西家在位第六年，就是以色列王何細亞在位第九年，撒瑪利亞被攻取了。亞述王把以色列人擄到亞述去，把他們安置在哈臘、哈博河和歌散河，以及瑪代人的城裡；這是因為他們不聽從耶和華他們神的話，違背他的約；耶和華的僕人摩西吩咐的一切，他們都不聽從，不遵行。希西家王在位第十四年，亞述王西拿基立上來攻擊猶大所有的設防城，佔據了它們。猶大王希西家派人往拉吉去見亞述王說：“我有罪了，請你離我回去吧，你們加於我的處分，我必承當。”於是亞述王罰了猶大王希西家九千公斤銀子和九百公斤金子。希西家就把耶和華殿和王宮寶庫內找到的所有金子都給了他。

獅子的洞穴在哪裡？餵養幼獅的地方在哪裡？公獅、母獅和幼獅不受驚嚇之處，可以閒遊的地方又在哪裡呢？公獅為幼獅撕碎足夠的食物，為母獅掐死活物；把獵物塞滿了牠的洞，把撕碎的填滿了牠的穴。萬軍之耶和華說：看哪！我必攻擊你，我要把你的（按照《馬索拉文本》，「你的」作「她的」;現參照其他古譯本翻譯）戰車焚燒成煙，刀劍必吞滅你的幼獅；我必從地上除去你的獵物，你使者的聲音也必不再有人聽見。這流人血的城，有禍了！全城欺詐，充滿劫掠；搶奪的事總不止息。鞭聲颼颼，輪聲轔轔，駿馬奔馳，戰車顛簸跳動。騎兵騰躍衝鋒；刀劍爍爍發亮，槍矛閃閃生光；被殺的人眾多，死屍成堆；屍體無數，眾人都被屍體絆倒。

救我們脫離仇敵，和恨我們的人的手；

以色列人必把他們帶回自己的國土去，以色列家必在耶和華所賜的地上得著這些外族人作僕婢；也要擄掠那些擄掠過他們的，並且統治那些欺壓過他們的。

亞述王撒縵以色上來攻擊他，他就臣服於他，並且向他進貢。後來，亞述王發覺何細亞陰謀反叛：他曾派使者去見埃及王梭，並且不再向亞述王獻上貢物，像過去每年一樣。亞述王就拿住他，把他囚在牢裡。亞述王上來攻擊以色列全國各地，並且到撒瑪利亞來，圍城三年。

你這毀滅人，自己卻不被毀滅的；你這行事詭詐，別人倒不以詭詐待你的，有禍了！你剛停止毀滅人的時候，自己就要被毀滅；你剛停止行詭詐的時候，別人就必以詭詐待你。

因此耶和華領亞述王的將帥來攻打他們，用鈎子鈎著瑪拿西，用銅鍊鎖住他，把他帶到巴比倫去。

把我們從仇敵手中救拔出來，叫我們可以坦然無懼，用聖潔公義，在他面前一生一世敬拜他。

亞述啊！我怒氣的棍子，有禍了。他們手中拿著我忿怒的杖。我要差派他去攻擊一個不敬虔的國，吩咐他去攻擊我惱怒的子民，擄去掠物，搶奪擄物，把他們踐踏，像街上的泥土一樣。但亞述並沒有這樣想過，他心裡也沒有這樣打算；他心裡倒想毀滅、剪除多國。因為他說：“在我手下的眾領袖不都是王嗎？迦勒挪不是像迦基米施嗎？哈瑪不是像亞珥拔嗎？撒瑪利亞不是像大馬士革嗎？我的手伸展到這些充滿偶像的國，他們雕刻的像比耶路撒冷和撒瑪利亞的還多。我怎樣對待撒瑪利亞和其中的偶像，不也照樣對待耶路撒冷和其中的偶像嗎？”主在錫安山和耶路撒冷成全了他一切工作的時候，他必說：我要懲罰亞述王自大的心所結的果子，和他眼目高傲的態度。

耶和華必伸手攻擊北方，毀滅亞述，使尼尼微變成荒場，乾旱像曠野。
