Bethlehem Ephrathah, you are small among the clans of Judah; one will come from you to be ruler over Israel for me. His origin is from antiquity, from ancient times.

“ But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.”

The Lord says,“ Bethlehem Ephrathah, you might not be an important town in the nation of Judah. But out of you will come for me a ruler over Israel. His family line goes back to the early years of your nation. It goes all the way back to days of long ago.”

But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, who are too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel, whose coming forth is from of old, from ancient days.

But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, are only a small village among all the people of Judah. Yet a ruler of Israel, whose origins are in the distant past, will come from you on my behalf.

But as for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Too little to be among the clans of Judah, From you One will come forth for Me to be ruler in Israel. His times of coming forth are from long ago, From the days of eternity.”

“ But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Though you are little among the thousands of Judah, Yet out of you shall come forth to Me The One to be Ruler in Israel, Whose goings forth are from of old, From everlasting.”

But thou, Beth- lehem Ephrathah, which art little to be among the thousands of Judah, out of thee shall one come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth are from of old, from everlasting.

Bethlehem Ephrathah, you are small among the clans of Judah; One will come from you to be ruler over Israel for Me. His origin is from antiquity, from eternity.

But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah,[ though] thou be little among the thousands of Judah,[ yet] out of thee shall he come forth unto me[ that is] to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth[ have been] from of old, from everlasting.

( 5: 1) As for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, seemingly insignificant among the clans of Judah– from you a king will emerge who will rule over Israel on my behalf, one whose origins are in the distant past.

But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, being small among the clans of Judah, out of you one will come out to me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings out are from of old, from ancient times.

And you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah: Because out of you will come a ruler who will shepherd my people Israel.”

Doesn’t the Scripture say that the Messiah comes from David’s offspring and from the town of Bethlehem, where David lived?”

Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout in triumph, Daughter Jerusalem! Look, your King is coming to you; he is righteous and victorious, humble and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

For a child will be born for us, a son will be given to us, and the government will be on his shoulders. He will be named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.The dominion will be vast, and its prosperity will never end. He will reign on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish and sustain it with justice and righteousness from now on and forever. The zeal of the LORD of Armies will accomplish this.

Now listen: You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus.He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of his father David.He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and his kingdom will have no end.”

Then a shoot will grow from the stump of Jesse, and a branch from his roots will bear fruit.

Before the mountains were born, before you gave birth to the earth and the world, from eternity to eternity, you are God.

Now David was the son of the Ephrathite from Bethlehem of Judah named Jesse. Jesse had eight sons and during Saul’s reign was already an old man.

“‘ This is what the Lord GOD says: I will take a sprig from the lofty top of the cedar and plant it. I will pluck a tender sprig from its topmost shoots, and I will plant it on a high towering mountain.I will plant it on Israel’s high mountain so that it may bear branches, produce fruit, and become a majestic cedar. Birds of every kind will nest under it, taking shelter in the shade of its branches.Then all the trees of the field will know that I am the LORD. I bring down the tall tree, and make the low tree tall. I cause the green tree to wither and make the withered tree thrive. I, the LORD, have spoken and I will do it.’”

The scepter will not depart from Judah or the staff from between his feet until he whose right it is comes and the obedience of the peoples belongs to him.

So Rachel died and was buried on the way to Ephrath( that is, Bethlehem).

When I was returning from Paddan, to my sorrow Rachel died along the way, some distance from Ephrath in the land of Canaan. I buried her there along the way to Ephrath”( that is, Bethlehem).

Jesus came near and said to them,“ All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth.

All the people who were at the city gate, including the elders, said,“ We are witnesses. May the LORD make the woman who is entering your house like Rachel and Leah, who together built the house of Israel. May you be powerful in Ephrathah and your name well known in Bethlehem.

Although Judah became strong among his brothers and a ruler came from him, the birthright was given to Joseph.

Penuel fathered Gedor, and Ezer fathered Hushah. These were the sons of Hur, Ephrathah’s firstborn and the father of Bethlehem:

These were Caleb’s descendants. The sons of Hur, Ephrathah’s firstborn: Shobal fathered Kiriath-jearim;Salma fathered Bethlehem, and Hareph fathered Beth-gader.

Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family line of David,to be registered along with Mary, who was engaged to him and was pregnant.While they were there, the time came for her to give birth.Then she gave birth to her firstborn son, and she wrapped him tightly in cloth and laid him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.

“ Write to the angel of the church in Smyrna: Thus says the First and the Last, the one who was dead and came to life:

He is before all things, and by him all things hold together.

saying,“ Write on a scroll what you see and send it to the seven churches: Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea.”Then I turned to see whose voice it was that spoke to me. When I turned I saw seven golden lampstands,and among the lampstands was one like the Son of Man, dressed in a robe and with a golden sash wrapped around his chest.The hair of his head was white as wool— white as snow— and his eyes like a fiery flame.His feet were like fine bronze as it is fired in a furnace, and his voice like the sound of cascading waters.He had seven stars in his right hand; a sharp double-edged sword came from his mouth, and his face was shining like the sun at full strength.When I saw him, I fell at his feet like a dead man. He laid his right hand on me and said,“ Don’t be afraid. I am the First and the Last,and the Living One. I was dead, but look— I am alive forever and ever, and I hold the keys of death and Hades.

“ So I took the leaders of your tribes, wise and respected men, and set them over you as leaders: commanders for thousands, hundreds, fifties, and tens, and officers for your tribes.

What was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have observed and have touched with our hands, concerning the word of life—

An inscription was above him: THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

“ The LORD acquired me at the beginning of his creation, before his works of long ago.I was formed before ancient times, from the beginning, before the earth began.

But today you have rejected your God, who saves you from all your troubles and afflictions. You said to him,‘ You must set a king over us.’ Now therefore present yourselves before the LORD by your tribes and clans.”

And he has a name written on his robe and on his thigh: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.

Jacob’s leader will be one of them; his ruler will issue from him. I will invite him to me, and he will approach me, for who would otherwise risk his life to approach me? This is the LORD’s declaration.

Long ago you established the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands.They will perish, but you will endure; all of them will wear out like clothing. You will change them like a garment, and they will pass away.But you are the same, and your years will never end.

I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel, and one king will rule over all of them. They will no longer be two nations and will no longer be divided into two kingdoms.They will not defile themselves anymore with their idols, their abhorrent things, and all their transgressions. I will save them from all their apostasies by which they sinned, and I will cleanse them. Then they will be my people, and I will be their God.My servant David will be king over them, and there will be one shepherd for all of them. They will follow my ordinances, and keep my statutes and obey them.“‘ They will live in the land that I gave to my servant Jacob, where your ancestors lived. They will live in it forever with their children and grandchildren, and my servant David will be their prince forever.

So Moses chose able men from all Israel and made them leaders over the people as commanders of thousands, hundreds, fifties, and tens.

He can appoint them for his use as commanders of thousands or commanders of fifties, to plow his ground and reap his harvest, or to make his weapons of war and the equipment for his chariots.

They began to accuse him, saying,“ We found this man misleading our nation, opposing payment of taxes to Caesar, and saying that he himself is the Messiah, a king.”

In that day I will restore the fallen shelter of David: I will repair its gaps, restore its ruins, and rebuild it as in the days of old,

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Instead, God has chosen what is foolish in the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen what is weak in the world to shame the strong.God has chosen what is insignificant and despised in the world— what is viewed as nothing— to bring to nothing what is viewed as something,

He grew up before him like a young plant and like a root out of dry ground. He didn’t have an impressive form or majesty that we should look at him, no appearance that we should desire him.

Investigate all the places where he hides. Then come back to me with accurate information, and I’ll go with you. If it turns out he really is in the region, I’ll search for him among all the clans of Judah.”

Now it is evident that our Lord came from Judah, and Moses said nothing about that tribe concerning priests.

We heard of the ark in Ephrathah; we found it in the fields of Jaar.

Also take these ten portions of cheese to the field commander. Check on the well-being of your brothers and bring a confirmation from them.

It was the preparation day for the Passover, and it was about noon. Then he told the Jews,“ Here is your king!”They shouted,“ Take him away! Take him away! Crucify him!” Pilate said to them,“ Should I crucify your king?”“ We have no king but Caesar!” the chief priests answered.Then he handed him over to be crucified. Then they took Jesus away.Carrying the cross by himself, he went out to what is called Place of the Skull, which in Aramaic is called Golgotha.There they crucified him and two others with him, one on either side, with Jesus in the middle.Pilate also had a sign made and put on the cross. It said: JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS.Many of the Jews read this sign, because the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city, and it was written in Aramaic, Latin, and Greek.So the chief priests of the Jews said to Pilate,“ Don’t write,‘ The king of the Jews,’ but that he said,‘ I am the king of the Jews.’”Pilate replied,“ What I have written, I have written.”

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.He was with God in the beginning.All things were created through him, and apart from him not one thing was created that has been created.

But you should select from all the people able men, God-fearing, trustworthy, and hating dishonest profit. Place them over the people as commanders of thousands, hundreds, fifties, and tens.

So I went and hid it by the Euphrates, as the LORD commanded me.A long time later the LORD said to me,“ Go at once to the Euphrates and get the underwear that I commanded you to hide there.”

I will establish over them one shepherd, my servant David, and he will shepherd them. He will tend them himself and will be their shepherd.I, the LORD, will be their God, and my servant David will be a prince among them. I, the LORD, have spoken.

Then he said to me,“ It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will freely give to the thirsty from the spring of the water of life.
