Marshal your troops now, city of troops, for a siege is laid against us. They will strike Israel’s ruler on the cheek with a rod.

Jerusalem, you are being attacked. So bring your troops together. Our enemies have surrounded us. They want to slap the face of Israel’s ruler.

Now muster your troops, O daughter of troops; siege is laid against us; with a rod they strike the judge of Israel on the cheek.

Mobilize! Marshal your troops! The enemy is laying siege to Jerusalem. They will strike Israel’s leader in the face with a rod.

Now, daughter who is under attack, you slash yourself in grief; a siege is set against us! They are striking the judge of Israel on the cheek with a rod.

Now, daughter who is under attack, you slash yourself in grief; a siege is set against us! They are striking the judge of Israel on the cheek with a rod.

( 4: 14) But now slash yourself, daughter surrounded by soldiers! We are besieged! With a scepter they strike Israel’s ruler on the side of his face.

Now you shall gather yourself in troops, daughter of troops. He has laid siege against us. They will strike the judge of Israel with a rod on the cheek.

He giveth[ his] cheek to him that smiteth him: he is filled full with reproach.

And it came to pass in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, in the tenth[ day] of the month,[ that] Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came, he, and all his host, against Jerusalem, and pitched against it; and they built forts against it round about.And the city was besieged unto the eleventh year of king Zedekiah.And on the ninth[ day] of the[ fourth] month the famine prevailed in the city, and there was no bread for the people of the land.

They have gaped upon me with their mouth; they have smitten me upon the cheek reproachfully; they have gathered themselves together against me.

The LORD shall bring a nation against thee from far, from the end of the earth,[ as swift] as the eagle flieth; a nation whose tongue thou shalt not understand;

For the LORD[ is] our judge, the LORD[ is] our lawgiver, the LORD[ is] our king; he will save us.

And the LORD sent against him bands of the Chaldees, and bands of the Syrians, and bands of the Moabites, and bands of the children of Ammon, and sent them against Judah to destroy it, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by his servants the prophets.

For ye suffer, if a man bring you into bondage, if a man devour[ you], if a man take[ of you], if a man exalt himself, if a man smite you on the face.

For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side,And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.

For the king of Babylon stood at the parting of the way, at the head of the two ways, to use divination: he made[ his] arrows bright, he consulted with images, he looked in the liver.At his right hand was the divination for Jerusalem, to appoint captains, to open the mouth in the slaughter, to lift up the voice with shouting, to appoint[ battering] rams against the gates, to cast a mount,[ and] to build a fort.

Proclaim ye this among the Gentiles; Prepare war, wake up the mighty men, let all the men of war draw near; let them come up:

Son of man, write thee the name of the day,[ even] of this same day: the king of Babylon set himself against Jerusalem this same day.

And I will cut off the judge from the midst thereof, and will slay all the princes thereof with him, saith the LORD.

And the high priest Ananias commanded them that stood by him to smite him on the mouth.

But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

But Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah went near, and smote Micaiah on the cheek, and said, Which way went the Spirit of the LORD from me to speak unto thee?

And they spit upon him, and took the reed, and smote him on the head.

And he shall eat the fruit of thy cattle, and the fruit of thy land, until thou be destroyed: which[ also] shall not leave thee[ either] corn, wine, or oil,[ or] the increase of thy kine, or flocks of thy sheep, until he have destroyed thee.And he shall besiege thee in all thy gates, until thy high and fenced walls come down, wherein thou trustedst, throughout all thy land: and he shall besiege thee in all thy gates throughout all thy land, which the LORD thy God hath given thee.And thou shalt eat the fruit of thine own body, the flesh of thy sons and of thy daughters, which the LORD thy God hath given thee, in the siege, and in the straitness, wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee:[ So that] the man[ that is] tender among you, and very delicate, his eye shall be evil toward his brother, and toward the wife of his bosom, and toward the remnant of his children which he shall leave:So that he will not give to any of them of the flesh of his children whom he shall eat: because he hath nothing left him in the siege, and in the straitness, wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee in all thy gates.The tender and delicate woman among you, which would not adventure to set the sole of her foot upon the ground for delicateness and tenderness, her eye shall be evil toward the husband of her bosom, and toward her son, and toward her daughter,And toward her young one that cometh out from between her feet, and toward her children which she shall bear: for she shall eat them for want of all[ things] secretly in the siege and straitness, wherewith thine enemy shall distress thee in thy gates.

Behold, I will send and take all the families of the north, saith the LORD, and Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will bring them against this land, and against the inhabitants thereof, and against all these nations round about, and will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, and an hissing, and perpetual desolations.

The lion is come up from his thicket, and the destroyer of the Gentiles is on his way; he is gone forth from his place to make thy land desolate;[ and] thy cities shall be laid waste, without an inhabitant.

When I heard, my belly trembled; my lips quivered at the voice: rottenness entered into my bones, and I trembled in myself, that I might rest in the day of trouble: when he cometh up unto the people, he will invade them with his troops.

For, lo, I raise up the Chaldeans,[ that] bitter and hasty nation, which shall march through the breadth of the land, to possess the dwellingplaces[ that are] not theirs.

And said unto him, Behold, thou art old, and thy sons walk not in thy ways: now make us a king to judge us like all the nations.But the thing displeased Samuel, when they said, Give us a king to judge us. And Samuel prayed unto the LORD.

I will send him against an hypocritical nation, and against the people of my wrath will I give him a charge, to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets.

And said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they smote him with their hands.

Associate yourselves, O ye people, and ye shall be broken in pieces; and give ear, all ye of far countries: gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces; gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces.

And when he had thus spoken, one of the officers which stood by struck Jesus with the palm of his hand, saying, Answerest thou the high priest so?

Then did they spit in his face, and buffeted him; and others smote[ him] with the palms of their hands,
