When he comes, he will convict the world about sin, righteousness, and judgment:About sin, because they do not believe in me;about righteousness, because I am going to the Father and you will no longer see me;and about judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged.

For the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision.The sun and moon will grow dark, and the stars will cease their shining.The LORD will roar from Zion and make his voice heard from Jerusalem; heaven and earth will shake. But the LORD will be a refuge for his people, a stronghold for the Israelites.

Then he speaks to them in his anger and terrifies them in his wrath:“ I have installed my king on Zion, my holy mountain.”I will declare the LORD’s decree. He said to me,“ You are my Son; today I have become your Father.Ask of me, and I will make the nations your inheritance and the ends of the earth your possession.You will break them with an iron scepter; you will shatter them like pottery.”So now, kings, be wise; receive instruction, you judges of the earth.Serve the LORD with reverential awe and rejoice with trembling.Pay homage to the Son or he will be angry and you will perish in your rebellion, for his anger may ignite at any moment. All who take refuge in him are happy.

For the nation and the kingdom that will not serve you will perish; those nations will be annihilated.

On that day I will make a covenant for them with the wild animals, the birds of the sky, and the creatures that crawl on the ground. I will shatter bow, sword, and weapons of war in the land and will enable the people to rest securely.

Nations will see and be ashamed of all their power. They will put their hands over their mouths, and their ears will become deaf.They will lick the dust like a snake; they will come trembling out of their hiding places like reptiles slithering on the ground. They will tremble in the presence of the LORD our God; they will stand in awe of you.
