The seers will be ashamed and the diviners disgraced. They will all cover their faces because there is no answer from God.”

Those who see visions will be put to shame. Those who try to figure out what is going to happen will be dishonored. All of them will cover their faces. I will not answer them.”

當那日那些假神言人傳假神言時，個個都必因他所論的異象而蒙羞愧；他們必不再穿毛外衣來欺騙人，

是那使信口胡謅者的兆頭無效的，使占卜者變成了狂妄人，使智慧人退後，使他們的智識變為愚拙的，

『身上有痲瘋屬災病的人、他的衣服要撕裂，頭髮要蓬散；他要摀着上脣喊叫說：「我不潔淨，不潔淨。」

掃羅求問永恆主，永恆主卻沒有藉着夢，沒有藉着烏陵，也沒有藉着神言人而回答他。

那時你們要照我所行的去行：不蒙着嘴脣，也不喫居喪者的飯。

主永恆主發神諭說：『看吧，日子必到，我必打發饑荒到地上，可不是想喫食物的饑荒，也不是想喝水的口渴，乃是想聽永恆主之話的饑荒。

你儘管堅決進行你的符咒吧！進行你幼年所勞碌而行的，進行你許多邪術吧！或者能有用處！或者可以使人戰抖呀！你因你許多計謀而勞累；如今只管讓那些劃分天象、觀看星辰、在月初播知將來之事的、都站起來，救你脫離所要臨到於你的事呀！看吧，他們必像碎稭，被火焚燒；不能援救自己，脫離火燄之力：這不是可烤而取暖的炭火，也不是可坐於其前的燄火。

只可唉哼歎息，沉默無聲；不可為死人辦理喪事；你頭上要仍然包着華美裹頭巾，腳上要仍穿着鞋；你不要蒙着嘴脣，也不要喫居喪的飯。』

掃羅求問上帝說：『我下去追趕非利士人可以不可以？你將他們交在以色列人手裏不交？』這一天上帝沒有回答他。

（從前在以色列中人去尋問上帝的時候、總這樣說：『來，我們去找先見吧』：今日的神言人，從前稱為先見）

列國看見，就必為他們的一切勢力而慚愧；他們必用手摀口，他們的耳朵必變成聾的；

術士們因生瘡的緣故在摩西面前都站不住，因為術士們身上和一切埃及人身上都生着瘡。

從前雅尼和佯庇用甚麼方法反對摩西，這些人也這樣反對真理；他們是心思壞透了的人，在信仰的事上全不中用。但他們再也不能往前進了；因為他們的愚昧必在眾人面前顯得明明白白，像那兩人一樣。

我們的標幟我們不見了；不再有神言人了；我們中間也沒有人知道這災禍要到幾時。

撒母耳對掃羅說：『你為甚麼攪擾我，把我招上來？』掃羅說：『我非常困難；非利士人對我作戰，上帝又離開我，不再由神言人經手、也不再藉着夢來回答我；因此我請你來指示我該怎樣行。』

術士們也用他們的祕術照樣地行，要引出蝨子來，卻是不能：於是在人身上和牲口身上就都有了蝨子。術士們就對法老說：『這是上帝的手指頭所作的。』法老卻心裏剛硬，不聽摩西、亞倫，正如永恆主所說的。

你們若不將夢告訴我，只有一項判決令來處置你們：你們是同謀拿謊言爛語來在我面前胡說，要等候時勢改變的。現在快將夢告訴我吧，讓我知道你們能將夢的解析向我講明白。』迦勒底博學的人在王面前回答說：『世界上沒有人能將王所問的事說出來的，因為沒有王、多麼大、多麼有權力、曾經向任何學術士、或用法術的、或迦勒底博學的人、問過這樣事的。王所問的事很難答；除了不居於血肉之軀的神明、沒有別的能在王面前說出來的。』
