Because of this I must mourn and wail, I must go barefoot and naked; I must do mourning like the jackals, And a mourning like the ostriches.

先知曰、我必哀哭、解衣去履、我必號呼、若暴獸野犬、

先知曰、緣此我必哀痛哭泣、必跣足裸體而行、必哀鳴若豺狼、豺狼或作野犬號呼若鴕鳥、

Because of this I will weep and wail; I will go about barefoot and naked. I will howl like a jackal and moan like an owl.

I will weep and mourn because Samaria will be destroyed. I’ll walk around barefoot and naked. I’ll bark like a wild dog. I’ll hoot like an owl.

For this I will lament and wail; I will go stripped and naked; I will make lamentation like the jackals, and mourning like the ostriches.

Therefore I say,“ Look away from me, Let me weep bitterly, Do not try to comfort me concerning the destruction of the daughter of my people.”

at that time the Lord spoke through Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying,“ Go and loosen the sackcloth from your hips and take your sandals off your feet.” And he did so, going naked and barefoot.Then the Lord said,“ Even as My servant Isaiah has gone naked and barefoot for three years as a sign and symbol against Egypt and Cush,so the king of Assyria will lead away the captives of Egypt and the exiles of Cush, young and old, naked and barefoot with buttocks uncovered, to the shame of Egypt.

I have become a brother to jackals, And a companion of ostriches.

For a voice of wailing is heard from Zion:‘ How devastated we are! We are put to great shame, For we have abandoned the land Because they have torn down our homes.’ ”

“ I will take up a weeping and wailing for the mountains, And for the pastures of the wilderness a song of mourning, Because they are laid waste so that no one passes through, And the sound of the livestock is not heard; Both the birds of the sky and the animals have fled; they are gone.

But desert creatures will lie down there, And their houses will be full of owls; Ostriches also will live there, and shaggy goats will frolic there.

“ Therefore My heart makes a sound like flutes for Moab; My heart also makes a sound like flutes for the men of Kir heres. Therefore they have lost the abundance it produced.For every head is shaved bald, and every beard cut short; there are gashes on all the hands, and sackcloth around the waists.On all the housetops of Moab and in its public squares there is mourning everywhere; for I have broken Moab like an undesirable vessel,” declares the Lord.“ How shattered it is! How they have wailed! How Moab has turned his back— he is ashamed! So Moab will become a laughingstock and an object of terror to all around him.”

I resemble a pelican of the wilderness; I have become like an owl of the ruins.
