he said,“ Go away. The girl is not dead but asleep.” But they laughed at him.

He said to them,“ Make room, for the girl is not dead, but sleeping.” And they ridiculed Him.

“ Leave,” He said,“ because the girl isn’t dead, but sleeping.” And they started laughing at Him.

he said to them,“ Make room, because the girl isn’t dead, but sleeping.” They were ridiculing him.

But Paul went down, threw himself on the young man, put his arms around him, and said,“ Do not be distressed, for he is still alive!”

Those who passed by defamed him, shaking their headsand saying,“ You who can destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save yourself! If you are God’s Son, come down from the cross!”In the same way even the chief priests– together with the experts in the law and elders– were mocking him:“ He saved others, but he cannot save himself! He is the king of Israel! If he comes down now from the cross, we will believe in him!He trusts in God– let God, if he wants to, deliver him now because he said,‘ I am God’s Son’!”

This is what the LORD, the protector of Israel, their Holy One, says to the one who is despised and rejected by nations, a servant of rulers:“ Kings will see and rise in respect, princes will bow down, because of the faithful LORD, the Holy One of Israel who has chosen you.”

After he said this, he added,“ Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep. But I am going there to awaken him.”Then the disciples replied,“ Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he will recover.”( Now Jesus had been talking about his death, but they thought he had been talking about real sleep.)

He was despised and rejected by people, one who experienced pain and was acquainted with illness; people hid their faces from him; he was despised, and we considered him insignificant.

But I am a worm, not a man; people insult me and despise me.All who see me taunt me; they mock me and shake their heads.

When Jesus heard this, he said,“ This sickness will not lead to death, but to God’s glory, so that the Son of God may be glorified through it.”

She asked Elijah,“ Why, prophet, have you come to me to confront me with my sin and kill my son?”He said to her,“ Hand me your son.” He took him from her arms, carried him to the upper room where he was staying, and laid him down on his bed.Then he called out to the LORD,“ O LORD, my God, are you also bringing disaster on this widow I am staying with by killing her son?”He stretched out over the boy three times and called out to the LORD,“ O LORD, my God, please let this boy’s breath return to him.”The LORD answered Elijah’s prayer; the boy’s breath returned to him and he lived.Elijah took the boy, brought him down from the upper room to the house, and handed him to his mother. Elijah then said,“ See, your son is alive!”The woman said to Elijah,“ Now I know that you are a prophet and that the LORD really does speak through you.”

But Peter sent them all outside, knelt down, and prayed. Turning to the body, he said,“ Tabitha, get up.” Then she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter, she sat up.
