雖然我原先是褻瀆神的、逼迫人的、侮慢人的，但是我卻蒙了憐憫，因為我是在不信、不明白的時候做的；而且我們主的恩典，隨著在基督耶穌裡的信心和愛心，格外增多。「基督耶穌來到這世界，為要拯救罪人。」這話是信實的，值得完全接受。在罪人中我是首惡，但我之所以蒙了憐憫，是因為基督耶穌要在我這首惡身上顯出他一切的耐心，為那些將要信靠他而進入永恆生命的人做榜樣。

其實你們如果只愛那些愛你們的人，會有什麼報償呢？連稅吏不也這樣做嗎？你們如果只問候自己的兄弟，這樣做有什麼特別呢？連外邦人不也這樣做嗎？
