因为我们知道了真理以后，若仍然故意犯罪，就再没有赎罪祭了，只有可怕的审判和烧灭敌对者的烈火等候我们。人违犯摩西的律法，经两三个人指证后，尚且被毫不留情地处死，更何况人践踏上帝的儿子，轻看那使人圣洁的立约之血，又藐视赐人恩典的圣灵？这等人该受多么重的刑罚啊！我们知道上帝说过：“申冤在我，我必报应。”祂又说：“主要审判祂的百姓。”落在永活上帝的手中是可怕的！

如果他们借着认识我们的主和救主耶稣基督，已经摆脱了世俗的污秽，但后来又被这些事缠住、俘虏了，他们的处境会比以前更糟糕。他们明知道正路，却背弃了传给他们的神圣诫命，这样倒不如不知道的好。俗语说得好：“狗转过身来，吃自己所吐的；猪洗干净了，又回到污泥里去打滚。”这些话正好用在他们身上。

种子落在路旁，是指人听了天国的道理却不明白，魔鬼乘虚而入，把撒在他心里的夺走了；种子落在石头地上，是指人听了道后，立刻欢喜地接受了，但因为他心里没有根基，不过是暂时接受，一旦为道遭受患难或迫害，就立刻放弃了信仰；种子落在荆棘丛中，是指人虽然听过道，但生活的忧虑和钱财的迷惑把道挤住了，以致不能结出果实。

每个人的工程将来都会显明出来，因为到了审判的日子，必用火试验各人工程的品质。

因为他们欺骗我的子民说，‘平安！’其实并没有平安，就像有人筑了一道薄墙，用白灰加以粉饰。所以，你要警告那些粉刷白灰的人，说，‘墙必倒塌，暴雨要来临，冰雹势必降下，狂风也必大作。’墙倒塌之后，一定会有人问，‘你们粉饰的白灰在哪里呢？’主耶和华说，‘我必在烈怒中用狂风暴雨和冰雹来摧毁这墙，我必把你们粉饰的墙夷为平地，使其露出根基。墙倒塌的时候，你们必葬身其中。这样，你们就知道我是耶和华。我要向这墙和粉饰这墙的人发怒，惩罚他们。我告诉你们，这墙完了！粉饰这墙的人也完了！’他们就是那些向耶路撒冷说假预言，在没有平安的时候宣称看到了平安异象的以色列先知。这是主耶和华说的。”

“有一个污鬼离开了它以前所附的人，在干旱无水之地四处游荡，寻找安歇之处，却没有找到。于是它说，‘我要回到老地方。’它回去后，看见里面空着，打扫得又干净又整齐，就去带来了七个比自己更邪恶的鬼一起住在那里。那人的下场比从前更惨了。这个邪恶的世代也会这样。”
