People who are ungodly run after all those things. Your Father who is in heaven knows that you need them.

For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.

These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs.

For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.

As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him;

By your hand save me from such people, Lord, from those of this world whose reward is in this life. May what you have stored up for the wicked fill their bellies; may their children gorge themselves on it, and may there be leftovers for their little ones.

So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking.

“ Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead?Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion?If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God;

Jesus called them together and said,“ You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them.Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant,

If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that?And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that?
