你们这些淫乱的人哪！难道你们不知道，与世界为友，就是与神为敌吗？所以，如果有人想要和世界做朋友，他就成了神的仇敌！

我现在到底是要得人的信任，还是要得神的信任呢？难道我是想讨人的喜悦吗？如果我仍然讨人的喜悦，我就不是基督的奴仆了。

至于那些想发财的人就会陷入试探、网罗以及很多无知有害的欲望里；这些欲望使人沉溺在败坏和灭亡中。要知道，贪爱金钱是万恶之根；有些人恋慕金钱，就被迷惑而离开了信仰，用很多苦痛把自己刺透了。

因此，你们如果在不义的财富上不忠心，谁会把真正的财富委托给你们呢？

耶稣对他说：“撒旦，退去！因为经上记着：‘要敬拜主——你的神，唯独事奉他。’”

撒母耳就对以色列全家宣告说：“你们如果全心回转归向耶和华，就要把外邦的神明和亚斯她录从你们中间除掉，立定心志归向耶和华，唯独服事他。这样他就会解救你们脱离非利士人的手。”

你们难道不知道吗？你们把自己献上做奴仆去顺从谁，那么，顺从谁就是谁的奴仆：或做罪的奴仆，以至于死；或做顺从的奴仆，以致称义。感谢神！虽然你们过去是罪的奴仆，但现在却从心里顺从了所传给你们的教导内容，从罪中得了释放，成为义的奴仆。因着你们肉体的软弱，我就按照人的说法来讲，那就是，你们从前怎样把身体的各部分献给污秽和罪恶做奴仆，以致罪恶；现在也要照样把你们身体的各部分献给义做奴仆，以致分别为圣。原来，你们做罪的奴仆时，不受义的管束；那么，在你们现在看为羞耻的那些事上，你们当时到底得了什么果子呢？那些事的结局就是死。但如今，你们既从罪中得了释放，成为神的奴仆，就得了果子，以致分别为圣，那结局就是永恒的生命。

我告诉你们：要藉着那不义的财富为自己结交朋友，这样当财富无用的时候，你们会被接到永恒的居所里。

对那些今世富有的人，你当吩咐他们不可高傲自大，也不可把盼望寄托在靠不住的财富上，而要寄托在神身上，神把万物丰丰富富地赐给我们享受。
