既然基督在肉身受苦，你們也該將這樣的心志作為兵器，因為在肉身受過苦的已經與罪斷絕了，使你們從今以後不再隨從人的情慾，只順從上帝的旨意，在世度餘下的光陰。因為你們從前隨從外邦人的心意，生活在淫蕩、情慾、醉酒、荒宴、狂飲和可憎的偶像崇拜中，時候已經夠了。

凡屬基督耶穌的人，是已經把肉體與肉體的邪情私慾同釘在十字架上了。

我們知道，我們的舊人和他同釘十字架，使罪身滅絕，叫我們不再作罪的奴隸，

我克制己身，使它完全順服，免得我傳福音給別人，自己反而被淘汰了。

如果你一隻手或是一隻腳使你跌倒，就把它砍下來扔掉。你缺一隻手或是一隻腳進入永生，比有兩手兩腳被扔進永火裏還好。如果你一隻眼使你跌倒，就把它挖出來扔掉。你只有一隻眼進入永生，比有兩隻眼被扔進地獄的火裏還好。」

因為凡要救自己生命的，必喪失生命；凡為我喪失生命的，他必救自己的生命。人就是賺得全世界，卻喪失了自己，或賠上自己，有甚麼益處呢？

人若賺得全世界，賠上自己的生命，有甚麼益處呢？人還能拿甚麼換生命呢？

但是我告訴你們：凡向弟兄動怒的，必須受審判；凡罵弟兄是廢物的，必須受議會的審判；凡罵弟兄是白痴的，必須遭受地獄的火。

你所行的道要遠離她，不可靠近她家的門口，免得將你的尊榮給別人，將你的歲月給殘忍的人；免得陌生人滿得你的財富，你勞苦所得的歸入外邦人的家。在你人生終結，你皮肉和身體衰殘時，你必唉聲嘆氣，說：「我為何恨惡管教，心裏輕看責備呢？我不聽從教師的話，也沒有側耳聽那教導我的。在聚集的會眾中，我幾乎墜入深淵。」

你們這些蛇啊，毒蛇的孽種啊，怎能逃脫地獄的懲罰呢？

因為有人從母腹裏就是不宜結婚的，也有因人為的緣故不宜結婚的，並有為天國的緣故自己不結婚的。這話誰能領受，就領受吧。」

「你們這假冒為善的文士和法利賽人有禍了！因為你們走遍海洋陸地，說服一個人入教，既入了教，卻使他成為比你們加倍壞的地獄之子。

那殺人身體但不能滅人靈魂的，不要怕他們；惟有那能在地獄裏毀滅身體和靈魂的，才要怕他。

我提醒你們該怕的是誰：該怕那殺了以後又有權柄把人扔在地獄裏的。是的，我告訴你們，正要怕他。
