所以，你們要治死身上屬世的罪惡，如淫亂、污穢、邪情、惡慾和貪心，貪心就是拜偶像，

你們若隨從罪惡本性活著，必定死亡；但若靠著聖靈除去身體的惡行，就必活著。

既然基督曾在肉身上為你們受苦，你們也要懷著同樣的心志，因為肉體受過苦的人已經與罪斷絕了關係，可以在今後的生活中不再隨從人的私慾，只服從上帝的旨意。你們從前長期沉溺於異教徒的嗜好——淫亂、縱慾、醉酒、狂歡、宴樂和可憎的偶像崇拜。

那些屬基督的人已經把罪惡的本性和本性裡的邪情私慾都釘在十字架上了。

我們知道，我們的舊人已經和祂一同釘在十字架上，使辖制我們身體的罪失去力量，使我們不再做罪的奴隸。

我嚴格訓練自己，克服自身的軟弱，免得我傳福音給別人，自己卻被淘汰了。

「如果你的手或腳使你犯罪，就砍掉它！因為肢體殘缺著進入永生，總比四肢健全卻被丟進永遠不滅的火中好。如果你的一隻眼睛使你犯罪，就剜出來丟掉它吧！獨眼進入永生，總比雙目健全卻被丟進地獄的火中好。

因為想救自己生命的，必失去生命；但為了我而失去生命的，必得到生命。人若賺得全世界，卻失去自己或喪掉自己，又有什麼益處呢？

人就是賺得全世界，卻喪失自己的生命，又有什麼益處呢？

人若賺得全世界，卻喪失自己的生命，又有什麼益處呢？人還能拿什麼換回自己的生命呢？

但我告訴你們，凡無緣無故向弟兄發怒的，要受審判；凡罵弟兄是白癡的，要受公會的審判；凡罵弟兄是笨蛋的，難逃地獄的火。

要遠遠避開淫婦，不可靠近她的家門，免得你為別人枉費精力，為殘忍之徒斷送青春；免得外人吞盡你的財富，你的辛勞所得歸給他人。臨終之時，肉體衰殘，你必呻吟不止，說：「我為何厭惡教誨，心裡藐視責備！不聽從老師的話，不側耳聽導師之言。在眾人面前，我幾乎身敗名裂。」

你們這些蛇，這些毒蛇的後代啊，你們怎能逃脫地獄的刑罰呢？

人不結婚的原因很多，有些是因為先天的缺陷，有些是被人閹了，也有些是為了天國而自己放棄結婚的權利。誰能接受，就讓他接受吧。」

「虛偽的律法教師和法利賽人啊，你們有禍了！因為你們走遍海洋和陸地去引人入教，等人入了教，卻使他淪為地獄之子，比你們還壞兩倍。

那些只能殺害身體，不能毀滅靈魂的人，不用怕他們。但要畏懼那位有權將身體和靈魂一同毀滅在地獄裡的上帝。

我告訴你們應該懼怕誰，要懼怕上帝——祂有權終結人的生命，並把人丟在地獄裡。是的，我告訴你們，要懼怕祂！
