故爾獻禮於壇時、而念兄弟與爾有隙、

欲留禮物於壇上、而記兄弟與爾有憾、

是以爾若獻禮物於祭臺、在彼爾憶獲罪爾兄弟、

倘爾詣壇前獻禮、而忽憶有負兄弟者、

“ Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you,

Therefore, if you are presenting your offering at the altar, and there you remember that your brother has something against you,

If therefore thou art offering thy gift at the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath aught against thee,

“ If therefore you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has anything against you,

“ And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses.

“ If a person sins and commits a trespass against the Lord by lying to his neighbor about what was delivered to him for safekeeping, or about a pledge, or about a robbery, or if he has extorted from his neighbor,or if he has found what was lost and lies concerning it, and swears falsely— in any one of these things that a man may do in which he sins:then it shall be, because he has sinned and is guilty, that he shall restore what he has stolen, or the thing which he has extorted, or what was delivered to him for safekeeping, or the lost thing which he found,or all that about which he has sworn falsely. He shall restore its full value, add one-fifth more to it, and give it to whomever it belongs, on the day of his trespass offering.And he shall bring his trespass offering to the Lord, a ram without blemish from the flock, with your valuation, as a trespass offering, to the priest.

So Samuel said:“ Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, As in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed than the fat of rams.

Fools and blind! For which is greater, the gift or the altar that sanctifies the gift?

And Jesus said to him,“ See that you tell no one; but go your way, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.”

Then Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord,“ Look, Lord, I give half of my goods to the poor; and if I have taken anything from anyone by false accusation, I restore fourfold.”

The New Moons, the Sabbaths, and the calling of assemblies— I cannot endure iniquity and the sacred meeting.Your New Moons and your appointed feasts My soul hates; They are a trouble to Me, I am weary of bearing them.When you spread out your hands, I will hide My eyes from you; Even though you make many prayers, I will not hear. Your hands are full of blood.“ Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; Put away the evil of your doings from before My eyes. Cease to do evil,Learn to do good; Seek justice, Rebuke the oppressor; Defend the fatherless, Plead for the widow.

For I desire mercy and not sacrifice, And the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.

Then they said to one another,“ We are truly guilty concerning our brother, for we saw the anguish of his soul when he pleaded with us, and we would not hear; therefore this distress has come upon us.”And Reuben answered them, saying,“ Did I not speak to you, saying,‘ Do not sin against the boy’; and you would not listen? “ I hate, I despise your feast days, And I do not savor your sacred assemblies.Though you offer Me burnt offerings and your grain offerings, I will not accept them, Nor will I regard your fattened peace offerings.Take away from Me the noise of your songs, For I will not hear the melody of your stringed instruments.But let justice run down like water, And righteousness like a mighty stream.

The king said moreover to Shimei,“ You know, as your heart acknowledges, all the wickedness that you did to my father David; therefore the Lord will return your wickedness on your own head.
