是以爾若獻禮物於祭臺、在彼爾憶獲罪爾兄弟、

倘爾詣壇前獻禮、而忽憶有負兄弟者、

“ Suppose you are offering your gift at the altar. And you remember that your brother or sister has something against you.

So if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you,

“ So if you are presenting a sacrifice at the altar in the Temple and you suddenly remember that someone has something against you,

So if you are offering your gift on the altar, and there you remember that your brother or sister has something against you,

Therefore, if you are presenting your offering at the altar, and there you remember that your brother has something against you,

Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you,

If therefore thou art offering thy gift at the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath aught against thee,

So if you are offering your gift on the altar, and there you remember that your brother has something against you,

Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;

So then, if you bring your gift to the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you,

“ If therefore you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has anything against you,

And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.”

“ If anyone sins and is unfaithful to the Lord by deceiving a neighbor about something entrusted to them or left in their care or about something stolen, or if they cheat their neighbor,or if they find lost property and lie about it, or if they swear falsely about any such sin that people may commit—when they sin in any of these ways and realize their guilt, they must return what they have stolen or taken by extortion, or what was entrusted to them, or the lost property they found,or whatever it was they swore falsely about. They must make restitution in full, add a fifth of the value to it and give it all to the owner on the day they present their guilt offering.And as a penalty they must bring to the priest, that is, to the Lord, their guilt offering, a ram from the flock, one without defect and of the proper value.

But Samuel replied:“ Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the Lord? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams.

You blind men! Which is greater: the gift, or the altar that makes the gift sacred?

Then Jesus said to him,“ See that you don’t tell anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the gift Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.”

But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord,“ Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.”

Hear the word of the Lord, you rulers of Sodom; listen to the instruction of our God, you people of Gomorrah!“ The multitude of your sacrifices— what are they to me?” says the Lord.“ I have more than enough of burnt offerings, of rams and the fat of fattened animals; I have no pleasure in the blood of bulls and lambs and goats.When you come to appear before me, who has asked this of you, this trampling of my courts?Stop bringing meaningless offerings! Your incense is detestable to me. New Moons, Sabbaths and convocations— I cannot bear your worthless assemblies.Your New Moon feasts and your appointed festivals I hate with all my being. They have become a burden to me; I am weary of bearing them.When you spread out your hands in prayer, I hide my eyes from you; even when you offer many prayers, I am not listening. Your hands are full of blood!Wash and make yourselves clean. Take your evil deeds out of my sight; stop doing wrong.Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow.

For I desire mercy, not sacrifice, and acknowledgment of God rather than burnt offerings.

They said to one another,“ Surely we are being punished because of our brother. We saw how distressed he was when he pleaded with us for his life, but we would not listen; that’s why this distress has come on us.”Reuben replied,“ Didn’t I tell you not to sin against the boy? But you wouldn’t listen! Now we must give an accounting for his blood.”

“ I hate, I despise your religious festivals; your assemblies are a stench to me.Even though you bring me burnt offerings and grain offerings, I will not accept them. Though you bring choice fellowship offerings, I will have no regard for them.Away with the noise of your songs! I will not listen to the music of your harps.But let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream!

The king also said to Shimei,“ You know in your heart all the wrong you did to my father David. Now the Lord will repay you for your wrongdoing.

Then the chief cupbearer said to Pharaoh,“ Today I am reminded of my shortcomings.

Three times a year all your men must appear before the Lord your God at the place he will choose: at the Festival of Unleavened Bread, the Festival of Weeks and the Festival of Tabernacles. No one should appear before the Lord empty-handed:Each of you must bring a gift in proportion to the way the Lord your God has blessed you.
