“ Anyone who strikes a person with a fatal blow is to be put to death.However, if it is not done intentionally, but God lets it happen, they are to flee to a place I will designate.But if anyone schemes and kills someone deliberately, that person is to be taken from my altar and put to death. and they shall declare:“ Our hands did not shed this blood, nor did our eyes see it done.Accept this atonement for your people Israel, whom you have redeemed, Lord, and do not hold your people guilty of the blood of an innocent person.” Then the bloodshed will be atoned for,and you will have purged from yourselves the guilt of shedding innocent blood, since you have done what is right in the eyes of the Lord. “‘ If anyone strikes someone a fatal blow with an iron object, that person is a murderer; the murderer is to be put to death.Or if anyone is holding a stone and strikes someone a fatal blow with it, that person is a murderer; the murderer is to be put to death.Or if anyone is holding a wooden object and strikes someone a fatal blow with it, that person is a murderer; the murderer is to be put to death.The avenger of blood shall put the murderer to death; when the avenger comes upon the murderer, the avenger shall put the murderer to death.If anyone with malice aforethought shoves another or throws something at them intentionally so that they dieor if out of enmity one person hits another with their fist so that the other dies, that person is to be put to death; that person is a murderer. The avenger of blood shall put the murderer to death when they meet. (niv)

They will be places of refuge from the avenger, so that anyone accused of murder may not die before they stand trial before the assembly. (niv)

He killed them, shedding their blood in peacetime as if in battle, and with that blood he stained the belt around his waist and the sandals on his feet.Deal with him according to your wisdom, but do not let his gray head go down to the grave in peace. She continued,“ Long ago they used to say,‘ Get your answer at Abel,’ and that settled it. (niv)

Appoint judges and officials for each of your tribes in every town the Lord your God is giving you, and they shall judge the people fairly. (niv)

Then the king commanded Benaiah,“ Do as he says. Strike him down and bury him, and so clear me and my whole family of the guilt of the innocent blood that Joab shed.The Lord will repay him for the blood he shed, because without my father David knowing it he attacked two men and killed them with the sword. Both of them— Abner son of Ner, commander of Israel’s army, and Amasa son of Jether, commander of Judah’s army— were better men and more upright than he. (niv)
