For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.

Here is what I tell you. You must be more godly than the Pharisees and the teachers of the law. If you are not, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.

For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

“ But I warn you— unless your righteousness is better than the righteousness of the teachers of religious law and the Pharisees, you will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven!

For I tell you, unless your righteousness surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never get into the kingdom of heaven.

“ For I say to you that unless your righteousness far surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.

For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.

吾知若輩非不渴慕天主、特慕之不得其道耳。蓋既昧於天主之義、故惟求自立其義、而不服膺天主之義矣。

而與之合為一體。蓋予自身了無仁義、律法亦不足為恃、惟天主為仁義之泉源、而所以致之者、則惟信仰基督而已矣。

於此吾人尚有何說？異邦之人、未曾求義、竟因信而得義矣。義塞人求義於律法之中、而終未之得也。何以故？以其求之不以信、而以法耳。

耶穌應之曰：『我切實語爾、人非重生不得見天主國。』尼閣德睦曰：『人既老、安得重生？寧能再入母胎、以得重生乎？』耶穌對曰：『我切實語爾、人非生於水及神者、無得入天主國。

『經生與法利塞人、居於摩西之位、爾等固應遵其所言、惟不可效其所行；蓋若輩有言而無行也。彼以煩重難堪之任縛置人肩、而己則不運一指以相助。凡彼所行、惟欲求知於人；廣其佩經、長其綴旒、

貪婪成性之法利塞人、一聞此語、即嗤笑之、耶穌曰：『爾曹希俗取容、矯義人前、而天主固洞悉爾心。應知人之所貴、正天主之所賤也。

處世務求和平、立身務求聖潔；未有捨此而得見主者也。

凡處於基督懷中者皆為再造之人；舊事已逝、萬象更新；

方今斧斤已加於樹根、凡不結嘉實之樹、必伐而投諸火中。

哀哉爾經生與法利塞人、虛偽之徒也！蓋爾斤斤於薄荷、蘹香、蒔蘿、什一之輸、而於律中綱要、如正義、仁慈、信德、則漠然置之。彼固當行、此亦焉可廢哉？爾瞽而作導者！蚋則濾之、駝則吞焉。哀哉爾經生與法利塞人、虛偽之徒也！蓋爾第潔杯盤之表、而內充貪污邪欲。矇哉法利塞人！爾其先潔杯盤之內、則其外自潔矣。哀哉爾經生與法利塞人、虛偽之徒也！蓋爾猶粉堊之塋、外形雖美、內充屍骸諸穢。爾曹飾義以欺人、而內則虛偽邪惡、無所不有也。

凡呼籲「吾主吾主」之人、未必盡進天國；惟奉行我天父之意旨者、始得進焉。

耶穌見其狀、而告眾曰：『難矣哉！富人之進天主國也。駝經針孔較是猶易。』

予實語爾、人若不以赤子之心、領受天主之國、無得入者。』

一切不淨及邪妄之徒、莫得而入；惟錄名於羔羊之生命冊者得入焉。

哀哉爾曹！正如掩埋之墓穴、人履其上而不之覺也。』

『尚其慎旃！毋效一般經生好長服以遊行、樂於市上受人致敬、會必高居、席必首座、凌占孤寒之產、而以長禱為矯飾之具、此輩之受譴、必有異乎尋常者焉。』

『曩有二人、偕登聖殿祈禱；一為法利塞人、一為稅吏。法利塞昂立默念、曰：「謝主俾我異若眾！眾或貪污、或犯義、或奸淫、謝主俾我異斯稅吏！我每週守齋二次、所得什一以獻。」稅吏遙立、弗敢仰視、惟拊膺曰：「求主憐我罪人！」予實語爾、斯人成義而歸、遠勝於法利塞人矣。蓋自高者必見抑、自卑者必見升也。』

維時民眾紛集、擁擠不堪、致相蹂踐、耶穌開言、先訓其徒曰：『毋染法利塞之酵、虛偽是也。

耶穌謂之曰：『爾法利塞人、惟滌盃盤外表、而爾之內心、實藏垢納污。無知之人乎、夫彼創造外物者、非即創造內心者乎？

駝經鍼孔、較富人之進天主國猶易。』

吾誠語爾、凡不以赤子之心承天主國者、莫得而進焉。』

凡因余名接納若斯一孩者、即納我也。
