因此，見他人財富增多，日益奢華，不要害怕。因為他們死後什麼也帶不走，再不能擁有榮華富貴。

摩西長大成人後，憑信心拒絕做法老之女的兒子，寧願與上帝的子民一同受苦，也不肯享受一時的罪中之樂。在他眼中，為基督所受的凌辱遠比埃及的財富更有價值，因為他盼望的是將來的賞賜。

說：「這宏偉的巴比倫豈不是我用大能建立為京都，以顯我的威嚴和榮耀嗎？」

魔鬼又帶祂上到高處，頃刻間把天下萬國展示給祂看，又說：「我要把這一切權勢和榮耀都給你，因為這一切全交給我了，我想給誰就給誰。所以如果你向我下拜，這一切就是你的了。」

因為「芸芸眾生盡如草，榮華不過草上花；草必枯乾花必殘，

整整一百八十天，他展示自己帝國的財富和王權的威榮。
