but declared first to those in Damascus and in Jerusalem, and throughout all the region of Judea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent, turn to God, and do works befitting repentance.

Therefore bear fruits worthy of repentance, and do not begin to say to yourselves,‘ We have Abraham as our father.’ For I say to you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge,to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness,to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love.For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

“ Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; Put away the evil of your doings from before My eyes. Cease to do evil,Learn to do good; Seek justice, Rebuke the oppressor; Defend the fatherless, Plead for the widow.

Now therefore, amend your ways and your doings, and obey the voice of the Lord your God; then the Lord will relent concerning the doom that He has pronounced against you.

Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God,who“ will render to each one according to his deeds”:eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality;

Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel:“ Amend your ways and your doings, and I will cause you to dwell in this place.Do not trust in these lying words, saying,‘ The temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord are these.’“ For if you thoroughly amend your ways and your doings, if you thoroughly execute judgment between a man and his neighbor,if you do not oppress the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and do not shed innocent blood in this place, or walk after other gods to your hurt,then I will cause you to dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to your fathers forever and ever.

So the people asked him, saying,“ What shall we do then?”He answered and said to them,“ He who has two tunics, let him give to him who has none; and he who has food, let him do likewise.”Then tax collectors also came to be baptized, and said to him,“ Teacher, what shall we do?”And he said to them,“ Collect no more than what is appointed for you.”Likewise the soldiers asked him, saying,“ And what shall we do?” So he said to them,“ Do not intimidate anyone or accuse falsely, and be content with your wages.”

For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.For observe this very thing, that you sorrowed in a godly manner: What diligence it produced in you, what clearing of yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what vehement desire, what zeal, what vindication! In all things you proved yourselves to be clear in this matter.

For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him; but tax collectors and harlots believed him; and when you saw it, you did not afterward relent and believe him.
