But John tried to stop Him, saying,“ I need to be baptized by You, and yet You come to me?”

如望辭曰：『吾當受爾之洗、安可就我乎？』

But John tried to deter him, saying,“ I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?”

But John tried to stop him. So he told Jesus,“ I need to be baptized by you. So why do you come to me?”

John would have prevented him, saying,“ I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?”

But John tried to talk him out of it.“ I am the one who needs to be baptized by you,” he said,“ so why are you coming to me?”

But John tried to stop him, saying,“ I need to be baptized by you, and yet you come to me?”

But John tried to prevent Him, saying,“ I have the need to be baptized by You, and yet You are coming to me?”

And John tried to prevent Him, saying,“ I need to be baptized by You, and are You coming to me?”

But John would have hindered him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?

But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?

But John tried to prevent him, saying,“ I need to be baptized by you, and yet you come to me?”

But John would have hindered him, saying,“ I need to be baptized by you, and you come to me?”

Jesus replied,“ I assure you: Unless someone is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”“ But how can anyone be born when he is old?” Nicodemus asked Him.“ Can he enter his mother’s womb a second time and be born?”Jesus answered,“ I assure you: Unless someone is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.Whatever is born of the flesh is flesh, and whatever is born of the Spirit is spirit.Do not be amazed that I told you that you must be born again.

for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”So when they had come together, they asked Him,“ Lord, are You restoring the kingdom to Israel at this time?”He said to them,“ It is not for you to know times or periods that the Father has set by His own authority.But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

He came to Simon Peter, who asked Him,“ Lord, are You going to wash my feet?”Jesus answered him,“ What I’m doing you don’t understand now, but afterward you will know.”“ You will never wash my feet— ever!” Peter said. Jesus replied,“ If I don’t wash you, you have no part with Me.”

God presented Him as a propitiation through faith in His blood, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His restraint God passed over the sins previously committed.

For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ like a garment.There is no Jew or Greek, slave or free, male or female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, heirs according to the promise.

Indeed, we have all received grace after grace from His fullness,

And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying,“ Abba, Father!”

How could this happen to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?

We too all previously lived among them in our fleshly desires, carrying out the inclinations of our flesh and thoughts, and we were by nature children under wrath as the others were also.But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love that He had for us,made us alive with the Messiah even though we were dead in trespasses. You are saved by grace!

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

But the Scripture has imprisoned everything under sin’s power, so that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.

After this I looked, and there was a vast multitude from every nation, tribe, people, and language, which no one could number, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were robed in white with palm branches in their hands.And they cried out in a loud voice: Salvation belongs to our God, who is seated on the throne, and to the Lamb!All the angels stood around the throne, the elders, and the four living creatures, and they fell facedown before the throne and worshiped God,saying: Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and strength be to our God forever and ever. Amen.Then one of the elders asked me,“ Who are these people robed in white, and where did they come from?”I said to him,“ Sir, you know.” Then he told me: These are the ones coming out of the great tribulation. They washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.For this reason they are before the throne of God, and they serve Him day and night in His sanctuary. The One seated on the throne will shelter them:They will no longer hunger; they will no longer thirst; the sun will no longer strike them, nor will any heat.For the Lamb who is at the center of the throne will shepherd them; He will guide them to springs of living waters, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.
