Jesus answered him,“ Allow it for now, because this is the way for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed Him to be baptized.

耶稣回答说：“你暂且许我，因为我们理当这样尽诸般的义。”于是约翰许了他。

耶穌回答他，說：「現在你就答應吧，因為我們如此成全一切的義，是合宜的。」於是約翰答應了他。

耶穌曰、今姑許我、我儕亦如是以盡諸義、乃許之、

耶穌曰、今姑吾許、吾儕當如是以盡禮、乃許之、

耶穌謂之曰、今姑許我、因我儕當如是以盡諸義、約翰乃許之、

耶穌應曰：『茲姑許之、聊以盡義。』如望乃許之。

Jesus replied,“ Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness.” Then John consented.

Jesus replied,“ Let it be this way for now. It is right for us to do this. It carries out God’s holy plan.” Then John agreed.

But Jesus answered him,“ Let it be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he consented.

But Jesus said,“ It should be done, for we must carry out all that God requires.” So John agreed to baptize him.

Jesus answered him,“ Allow it for now, because this is the way for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then John allowed him to be baptized.

But Jesus, answering, said to him,“ Allow it at this time; for in this way it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he* allowed Him.

But Jesus answered and said to him,“ Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed Him.

But Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffereth him.

And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer[ it to be so] now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.

So Jesus replied to him,“ Let it happen now, for it is right for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then John yielded to him.

But Jesus, answering, said to him,“ Allow it now, for this is the fitting way for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed him.

“ My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to finish His work,” Jesus told them.

The One who sent Me is with Me. He has not left Me alone, because I always do what pleases Him.”

Then I said,“ See, I have come; it is written about me in the volume of the scroll.I delight to do Your will, my God; Your instruction lives within me.”

For you were called to this, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you should follow in His steps.He did not commit sin, and no deceit was found in His mouth;when He was reviled, He did not revile in return; when He was suffering, He did not threaten but entrusted Himself to the One who judges justly.He Himself bore our sins in His body on the tree, so that, having died to sins, we might live for righteousness; you have been healed by His wounds.

If you keep My commands you will remain in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commands and remain in His love.

The one who says he remains in Him should walk just as He walked.

For I have given you an example that you also should do just as I have done for you.

Both were righteous in God’s sight, living without blame according to all the commands and requirements of the Lord.

Jesus answered him,“ What I’m doing you don’t understand now, but afterward you will know.”“ You will never wash my feet— ever!” Peter said. Jesus replied,“ If I don’t wash you, you have no part with Me.”Simon Peter said to Him,“ Lord, not only my feet, but also my hands and my head.”

The Lord was pleased, because of His righteousness, to magnify His instruction and make it glorious.

Instead He emptied Himself by assuming the form of a slave, taking on the likeness of men. And when He had come as a man in His external form,He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death— even to death on a cross.

For this is the kind of high priest we need: holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners, and exalted above the heavens.
