那日是逾越节的预备日，约在正午。彼拉多对犹太人说：“看哪，你们的王！”

到了晚上，因为这是预备日，就是安息日的前一日，

列国为什么争闹？万民为什么图谋虚妄？世上的君王都站稳，臣宰一同算计，要对抗耶和华，对抗他的受膏者：“我们要挣脱他们的捆绑，脱去他们的绳索。”那坐在天上的必讥笑，主必嗤笑他们。那时，他要在怒中责备他们，在烈怒中惊吓他们：“我已经在锡安—我的圣山膏立了我的君王。”

那日是预备日，安息日快到了。那些从加利利和耶稣同来的妇女跟在后面，看见了坟墓和他的身体怎样安放。她们就回去，预备了香料香膏。在安息日，她们遵照诫命安息了。

除酵节的第一天，门徒来问耶稣：“你要我们在哪里给你预备吃逾越节的宴席呢？”

希律和本丢‧彼拉多，同外邦人和以色列民，果然在这城里聚集，要攻打你所膏的圣仆耶稣，做了你手和你旨意所预定必成就的事。

因为这日是预备日，又因为那安息日是个大日子，犹太人就来求彼拉多叫人打断他们的腿，把他们搬走，免得尸首在安息日留在十字架上。

到了早晨，众祭司长和百姓的长老商议要处死耶稣，就把他绑着，解去，交给彼拉多总督。
