千夫長立即帶著士兵和幾個百夫長跑下去，到了他們那裡。他們一看見千夫長和士兵們，就停止毆打保羅。

可是百夫長想救保羅，就攔阻了他們的計劃，命令會游泳的人跳下船，先到岸上去，

耶穌進了迦百農，有個百夫長前來懇求他，

然後千夫長叫來兩個百夫長，說：「預備兩百名步兵、七十名騎兵、兩百名長槍手，晚上九點出發往凱撒里亞去。

既然決定了我們要坐船往意大利去，他們就把保羅和其他一些囚犯交給皇家軍團的一個名叫猶利烏斯的百夫長。

那試探者前來對他說：「你如果是神的兒子，就吩咐這些石頭變成食物吧！」

保羅請來了一個百夫長，說：「請帶這年輕人到千夫長那裡，因為他有事要向他報告。」

說：「你這個要拆毀聖所、三天內又建起來的人哪，救救你自己吧！你如果是神的兒子，就從十字架上下來吧！」

耶穌卻沉默不語。大祭司又對他說：「我命令你指著永生的神起誓，告訴我們你是不是基督——神的兒子？」

在凱撒里亞有一個名叫哥尼流的人，是那叫做「意大利」軍團的百夫長，

他們都說：「那麼，你是神的兒子嗎？」耶穌對他們說：「是你們說的，我就是。」

眾人聽了這話，覺得扎心，就對彼得和其他的使徒說：「各位兄弟，我們該做什麼呢？」

就在那時刻，發生了大地震，那城的十分之一倒塌了，在地震中死去的有七千人。其餘的人都感到害怕，把榮耀歸給天上的神。

獄卒叫人拿了燈來，就衝進去，戰戰兢兢地俯伏在保羅和賽拉斯面前，然後領他們出來，說：「先生們，我應該做什麼才能得救呢？」

那些猶太人回答：「我們有律法，按照這律法，他是應該死的，因為他把自己當做神的兒子。」

照著聖潔的靈說，藉著從死人中復活，他被顯明是神大能的兒子。
