So when the crowd had gathered, Pilate asked them,“ Which one do you want me to release to you: Jesus Barabbas, or Jesus who is called the Messiah?”

如果你們認為事奉耶和華不好，那麼今日你們就可以選擇你們所要事奉的：是你們列祖在大河那邊事奉的神呢，還是你們現在所住亞摩利人之地的神呢？至於我和我家，我們必事奉耶和華。”

他們就喊叫起來：“除掉他！除掉他！把他釘十字架！”彼拉多問他們：“我可以把你們的王釘十字架嗎？”祭司長回答：“除了凱撒，我們沒有王！”

以利亞走近眾人說：“你們三心兩意，要到幾時呢？如果耶和華是神，你們就應當隨從耶和華；如果巴力是神，你們就應當隨從巴力。”眾人一句話也不回答。

彼拉多回答他們：“你們要我給你們釋放這個猶太人的王嗎？”他知道祭司長是因為嫉妒才把耶穌交了來。祭司長卻煽動群眾，寧可要總督釋放巴拉巴給他們。彼拉多又對他們說：“那麼，你們稱為猶太人的王的，你們要我怎樣處置他呢？”

總督問他們：“這兩個人，你們要我給你們釋放哪一個？”他們說：“巴拉巴！”彼拉多對他們說：“那麼，我怎樣處置那稱為基督的耶穌呢？”他們齊聲說：“把他釘十字架！”

雅各生約瑟，就是馬利亞的丈夫；那稱為基督的耶穌，是馬利亞所生的。
