斯時、司祭長及民間耆老、方群集於大司祭該法院中

有恃何恐。聖德是歌。血氣之倫。其如予何。泯泯棼棼。顚倒是非。畜意加害。運其心機。

眾執耶穌解送總司祭署、伯鐸祿遙尾其後。庭中燃火、眾人環坐、伯鐸祿與焉。

其中有名蓋法者、值歲之總司祭也、告眾曰：『汝曹無知、

總司祭方以收徒傳道諸端詰耶穌。耶穌對曰：『予向公開言論、施訓會堂聖殿中、此皆猶太人會集之所、未嘗言之於隱、爾何問予、盍問聽眾、予曾作何言、若輩定知予之所言。』語甫出、旁立一吏批其頰曰：『若敢如此對總司祭耶！』耶穌應曰：『吾言非耶？儘可指證其非。吾言是耶？何擊予為。』蓋亞納已將耶穌縛送總司祭蓋法處矣。

於是千總率士卒、偕猶太人諸使執耶穌而縛之、先解至亞納處。亞納者、乃是歲總司祭蓋法之岳父、而蓋法即曩時向猶太人宣告「死一人以活萬民、實計之得」者也。

眾曳耶穌至大司祭前、經生長老眾司祭咸集。伯鐸祿遙尾耶穌後、入大司祭院宇、與眾僕圍火坐以取暖。時大司祭及全公會、正訊鞠耶穌、共求證言、以成其死罪而不可得。蓋雖有多人誣以妄證、而證言紛紜、莫衷一是。數人起立而為妄證曰：『吾儕親聞彼言、吾將毀此人手所造之殿、而於三日內另建一所、非人手所造者。』然其言亦互有出入、未能一致。於是大司祭起立於中、而詰耶穌曰：『若輩控爾何事、爾竟不作答辯耶？』耶穌仍嘿然不答。大司祭復問曰：『汝果為至尊者之聖子基督乎？』耶穌曰：『是也！行見人子坐於全能者之右、駕雲而臨矣！』大司祭乃怒撕己衣曰：『吾人更須何證？瀆主之言、諸位已親耳聞之、於意云何？』僉曰：『罪當死！』有人且從而唾其面、蒙其目、揮拳而擊之曰：『可以預言矣！』諸僕更批其頰。
