新郎遲延的時候，她們都打盹睡着了。

彼得對耶穌說：『我就使必須跟你同死，也決不否認你。』眾門徒也都這樣說。

彼得和跟他在一起的人因眼睛發沉而打瞌睡；既清醒了就看見耶穌的榮光、和跟他一同站着的那兩個人。

便對他們說：『我的心很是憂困、幾乎要死：你們停留在這裏，同我儆醒着。』

他從禱告中起來，走到門徒那裏，見他們因憂愁而睡着了，

到了早晨，日頭一出，你就起來，突然衝出來攻城；可要注意，迦阿勒和跟隨他的人出來攻擊你的時候，你手碰到甚麼，就拿甚麼對付他。』

大衛對押尼珥說：『你不是個好漢麼？以色列中誰能比得上你呢？眾民中有人進來要殺害你主你王，你為甚麼沒有保護你主你王呢？你這樣作很不好啊。我指着永活的永恆主來起誓，你們都該死，因為你們沒有保護你們的主上、永恆主所膏立的。現在你看看王頭旁的矛和水罐在哪裏！』

以色列王回答說：『你們只要說：「才束上武裝的、休要像解掉了的來誇口。」』

我躺着睡，我的心卻醒着。呢，我愛人的聲音呢！他敲着門說：『我的妹妹、我的愛侶啊，給我開門吧！我的鴿子，我的十全美人哪！我的頭都滿了露水了，我的頭髮都滿了夜間的露水珠了。』
