新郎遲遲未到，她們等得困倦，便打盹睡著了。

祂回來時見他們又睡著了，因為他們睏得眼皮發沉。

祂回來，見他們都睡著了，就對彼得說：「西門，你在睡覺嗎？你不能警醒一時嗎？

彼得說：「就算要我跟你一起死，我也不會不認你！」其餘的門徒也都這樣說。

彼得和兩個同伴都睏得睡著了，他們醒來後，看見了耶穌的榮光以及站在祂身邊的兩個人。

就對他們說：「我心裡非常憂傷，幾乎要死，你們留在這裡跟我一起警醒。」

祂禱告完後，便起身回到門徒那裡，看見他們因憂愁而疲憊地睡著了，

清晨日出時攻城。迦勒帶著部下出來應戰時，你便可以見機行事。」

大衛說：「你不是勇士嗎？在以色列有誰比得上你呢？有人來刺殺你的王，你的主，你為何沒有保護他呢？你失職了。我憑永活的耶和華起誓，你們都該死。因為你們沒有保護你們的主——耶和華所膏立的王。你看看王身邊的矛和水瓶在哪裡？」

以色列王說：「你去告訴便·哈達，叫他別剛穿上盔甲就誇口，打完仗卸下盔甲再誇口吧。」

我雖然躺在床上，心卻清醒。我聽見我的良人在叩門，說：「開門吧！我的妹妹，我的愛人，我完美無瑕的小鴿子啊，我的頭上沾滿了露水，頭髮被夜間的露珠弄濕了。」
