But as for me, my prayer is to You, O Lord, in the acceptable time; O God, in the multitude of Your mercy, Hear me in the truth of Your salvation.Deliver me out of the mire, And let me not sink; Let me be delivered from those who hate me, And out of the deep waters.Let not the floodwater overflow me, Nor let the deep swallow me up; And let not the pit shut its mouth on me.

Coming out, He went to the Mount of Olives, as He was accustomed, and His disciples also followed Him.When He came to the place, He said to them,“ Pray that you may not enter into temptation.”And He was withdrawn from them about a stone’s throw, and He knelt down and prayed,saying,“ Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.”Then an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him.And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.When He rose up from prayer, and had come to His disciples, He found them sleeping from sorrow.Then He said to them,“ Why do you sleep? Rise and pray, lest you enter into temptation.”

My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me? Why are You so far from helping Me, And from the words of My groaning?O My God, I cry in the daytime, but You do not hear; And in the night season, and am not silent.

Save me, O God! For the waters have come up to my neck.I sink in deep mire, Where there is no standing; I have come into deep waters, Where the floods overflow me.I am weary with my crying; My throat is dry; My eyes fail while I wait for my God.

Then they came to a place which was named Gethsemane; and He said to His disciples,“ Sit here while I pray.”And He took Peter, James, and John with Him, and He began to be troubled and deeply distressed.Then He said to them,“ My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch.”He went a little farther, and fell on the ground, and prayed that if it were possible, the hour might pass from Him.And He said,“ Abba, Father, all things are possible for You. Take this cup away from Me; nevertheless, not what I will, but what You will.”Then He came and found them sleeping, and said to Peter,“ Simon, are you sleeping? Could you not watch one hour?Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”Again He went away and prayed, and spoke the same words.And when He returned, He found them asleep again, for their eyes were heavy; and they did not know what to answer Him.Then He came the third time and said to them,“ Are you still sleeping and resting? It is enough! The hour has come; behold, the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners.Rise, let us be going. See, My betrayer is at hand.”

When Jesus had spoken these words, He went out with His disciples over the Brook Kidron, where there was a garden, which He and His disciples entered.And Judas, who betrayed Him, also knew the place; for Jesus often met there with His disciples.Then Judas, having received a detachment of troops, and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, came there with lanterns, torches, and weapons.Jesus therefore, knowing all things that would come upon Him, went forward and said to them,“ Whom are you seeking?”They answered Him,“ Jesus of Nazareth.” Jesus said to them,“ I am He.” And Judas, who betrayed Him, also stood with them.Now when He said to them,“ I am He,” they drew back and fell to the ground.Then He asked them again,“ Whom are you seeking?” And they said,“ Jesus of Nazareth.”Jesus answered,“ I have told you that I am He. Therefore, if you seek Me, let these go their way,”that the saying might be fulfilled which He spoke,“ Of those whom You gave Me I have lost none.”Then Simon Peter, having a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant’s name was Malchus.So Jesus said to Peter,“ Put your sword into the sheath. Shall I not drink the cup which My Father has given Me?”
