“ Truly I tell you,” Jesus answered,“ this very night, before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times.”

Jesus replied,“ I tell you the truth, Peter— this very night, before the rooster crows, you will deny three times that you even know me.”

Then Peter remembered what Jesus had said.“ The rooster will crow,” Jesus had told him.“ Before it does, you will say three times that you don’t know me.” Peter went outside. He broke down and cried.

“ What I’m about to tell you is true,” Jesus answered.“ It will happen today, in fact tonight. Before the rooster crows twice, you yourself will say three times that you don’t know me.”But Peter would not give in. He said,“ I may have to die with you. But I will never say I don’t know you.” And all the others said the same thing.
