祭司長和法利賽人聚集公會，說：「這人行好些神蹟，我們怎麼辦呢？若這樣由着他，人人都要信他，羅馬人也要來奪我們的地土和我們的百姓。」內中有一個人，名叫該亞法，本年作大祭司，對他們說：「你們不知道甚麼。獨不想一個人替百姓死，免得通國滅亡，就是你們的益處。」他這話不是出於自己，是因他本年作大祭司，所以預言耶穌將要替這一國死；也不但替這一國死，並要將神四散的子民都聚集歸一。從那日起，他們就商議要殺耶穌。

亞那就把耶穌解到大祭司該亞法那裏，仍是捆着解去的。

彼得遠遠地跟着耶穌，一直進入大祭司的院裏，和差役一同坐在火光裏烤火。

你曾藉着聖靈，託你僕人－我們祖宗大衛的口，說：外邦為甚麼爭鬧？萬民為甚麼謀算虛妄的事？世上的君王一齊起來，臣宰也聚集，要敵擋主，並主的受膏者。希律和本丟‧彼拉多，外邦人和以色列民，果然在這城裏聚集，要攻打你所膏的聖僕耶穌，成就你手和你意旨所預定必有的事。

先帶到亞那面前，因為亞那是本年作大祭司該亞法的岳父。這該亞法就是從前向猶太人發議論說「一個人替百姓死是有益的」那位。西門‧彼得跟着耶穌，還有一個門徒跟着。那門徒是大祭司所認識的，他就同耶穌進了大祭司的院子。

外邦為甚麼爭鬧？萬民為甚麼謀算虛妄的事？世上的君王一齊起來，臣宰一同商議，要敵擋耶和華並他的受膏者，

那時，祭司長和法利賽人早已吩咐說，若有人知道耶穌在哪裏，就要報明，好去拿他。

眾人將耶穌從該亞法那裏往衙門內解去，那時天還早。他們自己卻不進衙門，恐怕染了污穢，不能吃逾越節的筵席。

拿耶穌的人把他帶到大祭司該亞法那裏去；文士和長老已經在那裏聚會。彼得遠遠地跟着耶穌，直到大祭司的院子，進到裏面，就和差役同坐，要看這事到底怎樣。

第二天，官府、長老，和文士在耶路撒冷聚會，又有大祭司亞那和該亞法、約翰、亞歷山大，並大祭司的親族都在那裏，

他們聚集，埋伏窺探我的腳蹤，等候要害我的命。

要在暗地射完全人；他們忽然射他，並不懼怕。他們彼此勉勵設下惡計；他們商量暗設網羅，說：誰能看見？他們圖謀奸惡，說：我們是極力圖謀的。他們各人的意念心思是深的。

祭司長和法利賽人聽見他的比喻，就看出他是指着他們說的。他們想要捉拿他，只是怕眾人，因為眾人以他為先知。

我卻像柔順的羊羔被牽到宰殺之地；我並不知道他們設計謀害我，說：我們把樹連果子都滅了吧！將他從活人之地剪除，使他的名不再被紀念。

那藉着律例架弄殘害、在位上行奸惡的，豈能與你相交嗎？他們大家聚集攻擊義人，將無辜的人定為死罪。

他們就說：「來吧！我們可以設計謀害耶利米；因為我們有祭司講律法，智慧人設謀略，先知說預言，都不能斷絕。來吧！我們可以用舌頭擊打他，不要理會他的一切話。」耶和華啊，求你理會我，且聽那些與我爭競之人的話。豈可以惡報善呢？他們竟挖坑要害我的性命！求你記念我怎樣站在你面前為他們代求，要使你的忿怒向他們轉消。

你們若不聽從我，不以安息日為聖日，仍在安息日擔擔子，進入耶路撒冷的各門，我必在各門中點火；這火也必燒毀耶路撒冷的宮殿，不能熄滅。」

亞那和該亞法作大祭司。那時，撒迦利亞的兒子約翰在曠野裏，神的話臨到他。

彼得在外面院子裏坐着，有一個使女前來，說：「你素來也是同那加利利人耶穌一夥的。」
