The disciples became very sad. One after the other, they began to say to him,“ Surely you don’t mean me, Lord, do you?”

And they were very sorrowful and began to say to him one after another,“ Is it I, Lord?”

Greatly distressed, each one asked in turn,“ Am I the one, Lord?”

Deeply distressed, each one began to say to him,“ Surely not I, Lord?”

Being deeply grieved, they began saying to Him, each one:“ Surely it is not I, Lord?”

And they were exceedingly sorrowful, and each of them began to say to Him,“ Lord, is it I?”

And they were exceeding sorrowful, and began to say unto him every one, Is it I, Lord?

Deeply distressed, each one began to say to Him,“ Surely not I, Lord?”

And they were exceeding sorrowful, and began every one of them to say unto him, Lord, is it I?

They became greatly distressed and each one began to say to him,“ Surely not I, Lord?”

They were exceedingly sorrowful, and each began to ask him,“ It isn’t me, is it, Lord?”

They were saddened, and one by one they said to him,“ Surely you don’t mean me?”“ It is one of the Twelve,” he replied,“ one who dips bread into the bowl with me.

They began to question among themselves which of them it might be who would do this.

His disciples stared at one another, at a loss to know which of them he meant.One of them, the disciple whom Jesus loved, was reclining next to him.Simon Peter motioned to this disciple and said,“ Ask him which one he means.”Leaning back against Jesus, he asked him,“ Lord, who is it?”

The third time he said to him,“ Simon son of John, do you love me?” Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time,“ Do you love me?” He said,“ Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you.” Jesus said,“ Feed my sheep.
