“ Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me.

By your endurance you will gain your lives.

“ Son of man, prophesy and say,‘ This is what the Lord says:’ Say,‘ A sword, a sword sharpened And also polished!Sharpened to make a slaughter, Polished to flash like lightning!’ Or shall we rejoice, the rod of My son despising every tree?And it is given to be polished, so that it may be handled; the sword is sharpened and polished, to hand it over to the slaughterer.Cry out and wail, son of man; for it is against My people, it is against all the officials of Israel. They are turned over to the sword with My people, therefore slap your thigh.For there is a testing; and what if even the rod which despises will cease to be?” declares the Lord God.“ You therefore, son of man, prophesy and clap your hands; and let the sword be doubled the third time, the sword for the slain. It is the sword for the great one slain, which surrounds them,so that their hearts will waver, and many fall at all their gates. I have granted the slaughter of the sword. Oh! It is made for striking like lightning, it is sharpened in readiness for slaughter.

Therefore, I will bring the worst of the nations, and they will take possession of their houses. I will also put an end to the pride of the strong ones, and their holy places will be profaned.When anguish comes, they will seek peace, but there will be none.Disaster will come upon disaster and rumor will be added to rumor; then they will seek a vision from a prophet, but the Law will be lost from the priest, and counsel from the elders.

Or if I were to bring a sword on that country and say,‘ A sword is to pass through the country,’ and I eliminated human and animal life from it,even though these three men were in its midst, as I live,” declares the Lord God,“ they could not save either their sons or their daughters, but they alone would be saved.Or if I were to send a plague against that country and pour out My wrath on it in blood to eliminate man and animal from it,even though Noah, Daniel, and Job were in its midst, as I live,” declares the Lord God,“ they could not save either their son or their daughter. They would save only themselves by their righteousness.”For this is what the Lord God says:“ How much more when I send My four severe judgments against Jerusalem: sword, famine, vicious animals, and plague to eliminate human and animal life from it!

Come, my people, enter your rooms And close your doors behind you; Hide for a little while Until indignation runs its course.For behold, the Lord is about to come out from His place To punish the inhabitants of the earth for their wrongdoing; And the earth will reveal her bloodshed And will no longer cover her slain.

This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.

How then would the Scriptures be fulfilled, which say that it must happen this way?”

“ And you, son of man, prophesy and say,‘ This is what the Lord God says concerning the sons of Ammon and their taunting,’ and say:‘ A sword, a sword is drawn, sharpened for the slaughter, to make it consume, so that it may be like lightning—

“ Seventy weeks have been decreed for your people and your holy city, to finish the wrongdoing, to make an end of sin, to make atonement for guilt, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the Most Holy Place.So you are to know and understand that from the issuing of a decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem, until Messiah the Prince, there will be seven weeks and sixty two weeks; it will be built again, with streets and moat, even in times of distress.Then after the sixty two weeks, the Messiah will be cut off and have nothing, and the people of the prince who is to come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. And its end will come with a flood; even to the end there will be war; desolations are determined.And he will confirm a covenant with the many for one week, but in the middle of the week he will put a stop to sacrifice and grain offering; and on the wing of abominations will come the one who makes desolate, until a complete destruction, one that is decreed, gushes forth on the one who makes desolate.”

He will not fear bad news; His heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord.

saying,‘ Do not be afraid, Paul; you must stand before Caesar; and behold, God has graciously granted you all those who are sailing with you.’Therefore, keep up your courage, men, for I believe God that it will turn out exactly as I have been told.But we must run aground on a certain island.”

We waited for peace, but no good came; For a time of healing, but behold, terror!From Dan there is heard the snorting of his horses; At the sound of the neighing of his stallions The whole land quakes; For they come and devour the land and its fullness, The city and its inhabitants.

This is what the Lord says:“ Behold, there is a people coming from the north land, And a great nation will be stirred up from the remote parts of the earth.They seize bow and spear; They are cruel and have no mercy; Their voice roars like the sea, And they ride on horses, Lined up as a man for the battle Against you, daughter of Zion!”We have heard the report of it; Our hands are limp. Anguish has seized us, Pain like that of a woman in childbirth.

Ah, sword of the Lord, How long will you not be quiet? Withdraw into your sheath; Rest and stay still.

For I tell you that this which is written must be fulfilled in Me:‘ And He was counted with wrongdoers’; for that which refers to Me has its fulfillment.”

The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom should I fear? The Lord is the defense of my life; Whom should I dread?When evildoers came upon me to devour my flesh, My adversaries and my enemies, they stumbled and fell.If an army encamps against me, My heart will not fear; If war arises against me, In spite of this I am confident.

“ In the first year of Darius the Mede, I arose to be of assistance and a protection for him.And now I will tell you the truth. Behold, three more kings are going to arise in Persia. Then a fourth will gain far more riches than all of them; as soon as he becomes strong through his riches, he will stir up the entire empire against the realm of Greece.And a mighty king will arise, and he will rule with great authority and do as he pleases.But as soon as he has arisen, his kingdom will be broken up and parceled out toward the four points of the compass, though not to his own descendants, nor according to his authority which he wielded, because his sovereignty will be removed and given to others besides them.“ Then the king of the South will grow strong, along with one of his princes who will gain ascendancy over him and rule; his domain will be a great realm indeed.And after some years they will form an alliance, and the daughter of the king of the South will come to the king of the North to reach an agreement. But she will not keep her position of power, nor will he remain with his power, but she will be given up, along with those who brought her in and the one who fathered her as well as he who supported her in those times.But one of the descendants of her line will arise in his place, and he will come against their army and enter the fortress of the king of the North, and he will deal with them and prevail.And he will also take into captivity to Egypt their gods with their cast metal images and their precious vessels of silver and gold, and he on his part will refrain from attacking the king of the North for some years.Then the latter will enter the realm of the king of the South, but will return to his own land.“ And his sons will mobilize and assemble a multitude of great forces; and one of them will keep on coming and overflow and pass through, so that he may again wage war up to his fortress.And the king of the South will be enraged and go out and fight with the king of the North. Then the latter will raise a great multitude, but that multitude will be handed over to the former.When the multitude is carried away, his heart will be haughty, and he will cause tens of thousands to fall; yet he will not prevail.For the king of the North will again raise a greater multitude than the former, and after an interval of some years he will press on with a great army and much equipment.“ Now in those times many will rise up against the king of the South; the violent ones among your people will also raise themselves up to fulfill the vision, but they will fall down.Then the king of the North will come, pile up an assault ramp, and capture a well fortified city; and the forces of the South will not stand their ground, not even their choicest troops, for there will be no strength to make a stand.But he who comes against him will do as he pleases, and no one will be able to withstand him; he will also stay for a time in the Beautiful Land, with destruction in his hand.And he will set his mind on coming with the power of his entire kingdom, bringing with him a proposal of peace which he will put into effect; he will also give him the daughter of women to ruin it. But she will not take a stand for him or be on his side.Then he will turn his face to the coastlands and capture many. But a commander will put a stop to his taunting against him; moreover, he will repay him for his taunting.So he will turn his face toward the fortresses of his own land, but he will stumble and fall and not be found.“ Then in his place one will arise who will allow an oppressor to pass through the Jewel of his kingdom; yet within a few days he will be broken, though not in anger nor in battle.And in his place a despicable person will arise, on whom the majesty of kingship has not been conferred; but he will come in a time of tranquility and seize the kingdom by intrigue.And the overflowing forces will be flooded away from him and smashed, and also the prince of the covenant.After an alliance is made with him he will practice deception, and he will go up and gain power with a small force of people.In a time of tranquility he will enter the richest parts of the realm, and he will accomplish what his fathers did not, nor his ancestors; he will distribute plunder, spoils, and possessions among them, and he will devise his schemes against strongholds, but only for a time.And he will stir up his strength and courage against the king of the South with a large army; so the king of the South will mobilize an extremely large and mighty army for war; but he will not stand, because schemes will be devised against him.Those who eat his choice food will destroy him, and his army will overflow, but many will fall down slain.As for both kings, their hearts will be intent on evil, and they will speak lies to each other at the same table; but it will not succeed, because the end is still to come at the appointed time.Then he will return to his land with much plunder; but his heart will be set against the holy covenant, and he will take action and then return to his own land.“ At the appointed time he will return and come into the South, but this last time it will not turn out the way it did before.For ships of Kittim will come against him; therefore he will withdraw in fear and will return and curse the holy covenant and take action; so he will come back and pay attention to those who abandon the holy covenant.Forces from him will arise, desecrate the sanctuary fortress, and do away with the regular sacrifice. And they will set up the abomination of desolation.And by smooth words he will turn to godlessness those who act wickedly toward the covenant, but the people who know their God will be strong and take action.And those who have insight among the people will give understanding to the many; yet they will fall by sword and by flame, by captivity and by plunder for many days.Now when they fall they will be granted a little help, and many will join with them in hypocrisy.And some of those who have insight will fall, to refine, purge, and cleanse them until the end time; because it is still to come at the appointed time.“ Then the king will do as he pleases, and he will exalt himself and boast against every god and will speak dreadful things against the God of gods; and he will be successful until the indignation is finished, because that which is determined will be done.And he will show no regard for the gods of his fathers or for the desire of women, nor will he show regard for any other god; for he will boast against them all.But instead he will honor a god of fortresses, a god whom his fathers did not know; he will honor him with gold, silver, precious stones, and treasures.And he will take action against the strongest of fortresses with the help of a foreign god; he will give great honor to those who acknowledge him and will make them rulers over the many, and will parcel out land for a price.“ And at the end time the king of the South will wage war with him, and the king of the North will storm against him with chariots, horsemen, and with many ships; and he will enter countries, overflow them, and pass through.He will also enter the Beautiful Land, and many countries will fall; but these will be rescued out of his hand: Edom, Moab, and the foremost of the sons of Ammon.Then he will reach out with his hand against other countries, and the land of Egypt will not escape.But he will gain control over the hidden treasures of gold and silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt; and Libyans and Ethiopians will follow at his heels.But rumors from the East and from the North will terrify him, and he will go out with great wrath to eliminate and annihilate many.And he will pitch the tents of his royal pavilion between the seas and the beautiful Holy Mountain; yet he will come to his end, and no one will help him.

My soul, my soul! I am in anguish! Oh, my heart! My heart is pounding in me; I cannot keep silent, Because, my soul, you have heard The sound of the trumpet, The alarm of war.Disaster upon disaster is proclaimed, For the whole land is devastated; Suddenly my tents are devastated, And my curtains in an instant.How long must I see the flag And hear the sound of the trumpet?“ For My people are foolish, They do not know Me; They are foolish children And have no understanding. They are skillful at doing evil, But they do not know how to do good.”
