As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately.“ Tell us,” they said,“ when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?”

And as He was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying,“ Tell us, when will these things happen, and what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”

耶稣说：“父凭着自己的权柄所定的时间或日期，你们不必知道。

耶稣在橄榄山上，面对圣殿坐着，彼得、雅各、约翰和安得烈私下问他：“请告诉我们，什么时候会有这些事呢？这一切事将要成就的时候有什么预兆呢？”

耶稣和门徒走近耶路撒冷，来到橄榄山的伯法其那里。耶稣派了两个门徒，

如果这样，他从创世以来，就必须受许多次的苦了。可是现在他在这世代的终结，只显现一次，把自己作为祭品献上，好除掉罪。

有一个问那身穿细麻衣、站在河水以上的人，说：“这些奇异的事的结局几时才到呢？”我听见那身穿细麻衣、站在河水以上的人，向天举起左右手，指着活到永远的主起誓，说：“要经过一载、二载、半载（“一载、二载、半载”或译：“一个时期、多个时期、半个时期”）；在他们完全粉碎圣民的势力的时候，这一切事就都要完成。”我听见，却不明白，我就问：“我主啊，这些事的结局是怎样呢？”

你们都知道，家主若晓得窃贼晚上什么时候会来，就会提高警觉，不让他摸进屋里。

挪亚的时代怎样，人子降临的时候也是这样。

撒稗子的仇敌是魔鬼，收割的时候是这世代的终结，收割的工人是天使。稗子怎样被拔掉用火焚烧，在这世代终结的时候，也是一样。

“你们应该从无花果树学个功课：树枝长出嫩芽生出叶子的时候，你们就知道夏天近了；同样，当你们看见这一切，就知道人子已经近在门口了。

电光怎样从东方闪出来，一直照到西方，人子降临的时候，也是这样。

这世代终结的时候，也是一样。那时天使要出去，把恶人从义人中分别出来。

弟兄们，论到时候和日期，不用写什么给你们了。因为你们自己清楚知道，主的日子来到，就像夜间的贼来到一样。人正在说平安稳妥的时候，毁灭性的灾祸就突然临到他们，好像生产的痛苦临到怀胎的妇人一样，他们绝不能逃脱。但是弟兄们，你们不在黑暗里，以致那日子会临到你们像贼来到一样。你们都是光明之子、白昼之子；我们不是属于黑夜的，也不是属于黑暗的。所以，我们不要沉睡像别人一样，总要警醒谨慎。因为睡觉的人是在晚上睡，醉酒的人是在晚上醉；但我们既然属于白昼，就应当谨慎，披上信和爱的胸甲，戴上救恩的盼望作头盔。因为神不是定意要我们受刑罚（“刑罚”原文作“忿怒”），而是要我们藉着我们的主耶稣基督得着救恩。基督替我们死，使我们无论是醒着或睡着，都和他一同活着。所以，你们应该彼此劝慰，互相造就，正如你们一向所行的。

我吩咐你们的一切，都要教导他们遵守。这样，我就常常与你们同在，直到这世代的终结。”

彼得看见他，就问耶稣：“主啊，这个人将来怎么样？”耶稣回答他：“如果我要他活到我来的时候，跟你有什么关系呢？你只管跟从我吧！”

那些人问他：“老师，什么时候会有这些事呢？这些事要发生的时候，有什么预兆呢？”

门徒悄悄地前来问耶稣：“为什么我们不能把鬼赶出去呢？”

等到洪水来到，把他们冲去，他们才明白过来；人子降临的时候也是这样。

耶稣离开群众，进到屋里，门徒前来问他：“请你给我们解释田里稗子的比喻。”

门徒前来告诉他：“法利赛人听了这话很生气，你知道吗？”

门徒上前问耶稣：“你对他们讲话，为什么用比喻呢？”他回答：“天国的奥秘，只给你们知道，却不给他们知道。
