既然如此，如今你們為甚麼試探上帝，要把我們祖宗、以及我們、所不能負的軛、放在門徒脖子上呢？

因為連那些受割禮的、他們自己也不嚴守律法，卻想要叫你們受割禮，好拿你們的肉體來誇口。

一切勞苦背重擔的人哪，來找我吧，我便給你們安歇。我心裏柔和謙卑，你們要負我的軛來跟我學，你們心裏就可得安歇。因為我的軛是好負的，我的擔子是輕省的。』

因為聖靈和我們定意、不把更大的重擔放在你們身上，只提這些必須作的事：

『經學士和法利賽人、假冒為善的人哪，你們有禍啊！因為你們將薄荷、茴香、芹菜、獻上十分之一，而律法上較有重量的事，如正義憐憫和信實、你們卻遺棄了。其實呢，前者那些雖不可遺棄，後者這些卻必須行。

至於你們其餘在推雅推喇的人、凡不執守這教訓、就是不明白他們之所謂撒但之「深奧」的人呢、我告訴你們，我必不將別的重擔放在你們身上。
