So what makes us think we can escape if we ignore this great salvation that was first announced by the Lord Jesus himself and then delivered to us by those who heard him speak?

“ When the Son of Man returns, it will be like it was in Noah’s day.In those days, the people enjoyed banquets and parties and weddings right up to the time Noah entered his boat and the flood came and destroyed them all.“ And the world will be as it was in the days of Lot. People went about their daily business— eating and drinking, buying and selling, farming and building—until the morning Lot left Sodom. Then fire and burning sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all.Yes, it will be‘ business as usual’ right up to the day when the Son of Man is revealed.On that day a person out on the deck of a roof must not go down into the house to pack. A person out in the field must not return home.Remember what happened to Lot’s wife!

The seed that fell among the thorns represents those who hear God’s word, but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the worries of this life and the lure of wealth, so no fruit is produced.

They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God.

Fear of the Lord is the foundation of true knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.

So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.

The people refused to enter the pleasant land, for they wouldn’t believe his promise to care for them.Instead, they grumbled in their tents and refused to obey the Lord.

But people who long to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction.For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.

In those days before the flood, the people were enjoying banquets and parties and weddings right up to the time Noah entered his boat.People didn’t realize what was going to happen until the flood came and swept them all away. That is the way it will be when the Son of Man comes.

So Lot rushed out to tell his daughters’ fiancés,“ Quick, get out of the city! The Lord is about to destroy it.” But the young men thought he was only joking.

Don’t you see how wonderfully kind, tolerant, and patient God is with you? Does this mean nothing to you? Can’t you see that his kindness is intended to turn you from your sin?

As he reasoned with them about righteousness and self control and the coming day of judgment, Felix became frightened.“ Go away for now,” he replied.“ When it is more convenient, I’ll call for you again.”
