The soldiers led him away within the court, which is the Praetorium; and they called together the whole cohort.They clothed him with purple, and weaving a crown of thorns, they put it on him.They began to salute him,“ Hail, King of the Jews!”They struck his head with a reed, and spat on him, and bowing their knees, did homage to him.When they had mocked him, they took the purple off him, and put his own garments on him. They led him out to crucify him.

For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve.Then he appeared to over five hundred brothers at once, most of whom remain until now, but some have also fallen asleep.Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles,

Then the governor’s soldiers took Jesus into the Praetorium, and gathered the whole garrison together against him.They stripped him, and put a scarlet robe on him.They braided a crown of thorns and put it on his head, and a reed in his right hand; and they kneeled down before him, and mocked him, saying,“ Hail, King of the Jews!”They spat on him, and took the reed and struck him on the head.When they had mocked him, they took the robe off him, and put his clothes on him, and led him away to crucify him.

They led Jesus therefore from Caiaphas into the Praetorium. It was early, and they themselves didn’t enter into the Praetorium, that they might not be defiled, but might eat the Passover.Pilate therefore went out to them, and said,“ What accusation do you bring against this man?”They answered him,“ If this man weren’t an evildoer, we wouldn’t have delivered him up to you.”Pilate therefore said to them,“ Take him yourselves, and judge him according to your law.” Therefore the Jews said to him,“ It is illegal for us to put anyone to death,”that the word of Jesus might be fulfilled, which he spoke, signifying by what kind of death he should die.Pilate therefore entered again into the Praetorium, called Jesus, and said to him,“ Are you the King of the Jews?”Jesus answered him,“ Do you say this by yourself, or did others tell you about me?”Pilate answered,“ I’m not a Jew, am I? Your own nation and the chief priests delivered you to me. What have you done?”Jesus answered,“ My Kingdom is not of this world. If my Kingdom were of this world, then my servants would fight, that I wouldn’t be delivered to the Jews. But now my Kingdom is not from here.”Pilate therefore said to him,“ Are you a king then?” Jesus answered,“ You say that I am a king. For this reason I have been born, and for this reason I have come into the world, that I should testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice.”Pilate said to him,“ What is truth?” When he had said this, he went out again to the Jews, and said to them,“ I find no basis for a charge against him.

Some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to beat him with fists, and to tell him,“ Prophesy!” The officers struck him with the palms of their hands.

“ For truly, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, were gathered together against your holy servant, Jesus, whom you anointed,

He was despised and rejected by men, a man of suffering and acquainted with disease. He was despised as one from whom men hide their face; and we didn’t respect him.

Those who passed by blasphemed him, wagging their heads, and saying,“ Ha! You who destroy the temple, and build it in three days,save yourself, and come down from the cross!”Likewise, also the chief priests mocking among themselves with the scribes said,“ He saved others. He can’t save himself.

The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his Servant Jesus, whom you delivered up, and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he had determined to release him.But you denied the Holy and Righteous One and asked for a murderer to be granted to you,and killed the Prince of life, whom God raised from the dead, to which we are witnesses.By faith in his name, his name has made this man strong, whom you see and know. Yes, the faith which is through him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.

Immediately in the morning the chief priests, with the elders and scribes, and the whole council, held a consultation, bound Jesus, carried him away, and delivered him up to Pilate.

For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the whale, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Coming to us and taking Paul’s belt, he bound his own feet and hands, and said,“ The Holy Spirit says:‘ So the Jews at Jerusalem will bind the man who owns this belt, and will deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.’”

The whole company of them rose up and brought him before Pilate.They began to accuse him, saying,“ We found this man perverting the nation, forbidding paying taxes to Caesar, and saying that he himself is Christ, a king.”Pilate asked him,“ Are you the King of the Jews?” He answered him,“ So you say.”Pilate said to the chief priests and the multitudes,“ I find no basis for a charge against this man.”But they insisted, saying,“ He stirs up the people, teaching throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee even to this place.”

So Pilate then took Jesus, and flogged him.The soldiers twisted thorns into a crown, and put it on his head, and dressed him in a purple garment.They kept saying,“ Hail, King of the Jews!” and they kept slapping him.Then Pilate went out again, and said to them,“ Behold, I bring him out to you, that you may know that I find no basis for a charge against him.”

Then they spat in his face and beat him with their fists, and some slapped him,saying,“ Prophesy to us, you Christ! Who hit you?”

Herod with his soldiers humiliated him and mocked him. Dressing him in luxurious clothing, they sent him back to Pilate.

After two days he will revive us. On the third day he will raise us up, and we will live before him.

Like the profane mockers in feasts, they gnashed their teeth at me.

All those who see me mock me. They insult me with their lips. They shake their heads, saying,“ He trusts in Yahweh. Let him deliver him. Let him rescue him, since he delights in him.”

and they bound him, and led him away, and delivered him up to Pontius Pilate, the governor.Then Judas, who betrayed him, when he saw that Jesus was condemned, felt remorse, and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,saying,“ I have sinned in that I betrayed innocent blood.” But they said,“ What is that to us? You see to it.”He threw down the pieces of silver in the sanctuary, and departed. He went away and hanged himself.The chief priests took the pieces of silver, and said,“ It’s not lawful to put them into the treasury, since it is the price of blood.”They took counsel, and bought the potter’s field with them, to bury strangers in.Therefore that field was called“ The Field of Blood” to this day.Then that which was spoken through Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled, saying,“ They took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him upon whom a price had been set, whom some of the children of Israel priced,and they gave them for the potter’s field, as the Lord commanded me.”

Your dead shall live. My dead bodies shall arise. Awake and sing, you who dwell in the dust; for your dew is like the dew of herbs, and the earth will cast out the departed spirits.

He said to them,“ Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day,
