And why is it written that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be despised?But I tell you that Elijah has certainly come, and they did to him whatever they wanted, just as it is written about him.”

But he forcefully commanded them not to tell this to anyone,saying,“ The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, chief priests, and experts in the law, and be killed, and on the third day be raised.”

And I tell you that Elijah has already come. Yet they did not recognize him, but did to him whatever they wanted. In the same way, the Son of Man will suffer at their hands.”

Her parents were astonished, but he ordered them to tell no one what had happened.

Jesus said to him,“ Foxes have dens, and the birds in the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.”

and said to them,“ Thus it stands written that the Christ would suffer and would rise from the dead on the third day,and repentance for the forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem.

Then Jesus said to him,“ See that you do not speak to anyone, but go, show yourself to a priest, and bring the offering that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.”

Then he instructed his disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Christ.From that time on Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, chief priests, and experts in the law, and be killed, and on the third day be raised.

They will flog him severely and kill him. Yet on the third day he will rise again.”But the twelve understood none of these things. This saying was hidden from them, and they did not grasp what Jesus meant.
