About eight days after these sayings, He took along Peter, John, and James, and went up on the mountain to pray.And while He was praying, the appearance of His face became different, and His clothing became white and gleaming.And behold, two men were talking with Him; and they were Moses and Elijah,who, appearing in glory, were speaking of His departure, which He was about to accomplish at Jerusalem.Now Peter and his companions had been overcome with sleep; but when they were fully awake, they saw His glory and the two men who were standing with Him.And as these two men were leaving Him, Peter said to Jesus,“ Master, it is good that we are here; and let’s make three tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah”— not realizing what he was saying.But while he was saying this, a cloud formed and began to overshadow them; and they were afraid as they entered the cloud.And then a voice came from the cloud, saying,“ This is My Son, My Chosen One; listen to Him!”And when the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone. And they kept silent, and reported to no one in those days any of the things which they had seen.

And He allowed no one to accompany Him except Peter, James, and John the brother of James.

And He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee with Him, and began to be grieved and distressed.

and we ourselves heard this declaration made from heaven when we were with Him on the holy mountain.

This is the third time that I am coming to you. On the testimony of two or three witnesses every matter shall be confirmed.

And He was transfigured before them;and His garments became radiant and exceedingly white, as no launderer on earth can whiten them.And Elijah appeared to them along with Moses; and they were talking with Jesus.Peter responded and* said to Jesus,“ Rabbi, it is good that we are here; let’s make three tabernacles, one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”For he did not know how to reply; for they became terrified.Then a cloud formed, overshadowing them, and a voice came out of the cloud:“ This is My beloved Son; listen to Him!”And suddenly they looked around and saw no one with them anymore, except Jesus alone.As they were coming down from the mountain, He gave them orders not to relate to anyone what they had seen, until the Son of Man rose from the dead.They seized upon that statement, discussing with one another what rising from the dead meant.And they asked Him, saying,“ Why is it that the scribes say that Elijah must come first?”And He said to them,“ Elijah does come first and he restores all things. And yet how is it written of the Son of Man that He will suffer many things and be treated with contempt?But I say to you that Elijah has indeed come, and they did to him whatever they wanted, just as it is written of him.”

When He came to the house, He did not allow anyone to enter with Him except Peter, John, and James, and the girl’s father and mother.
