And I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven. Whatever you forbid on earth will be forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permit on earth will be permitted in heaven.”

“ I tell you the truth, whatever you bind on earth will have been bound in heaven, and whatever you release on earth will have been released in heaven.

I will place the key to the house of David on his shoulder. When he opens the door, no one can close it; when he closes the door, no one can open it.

If you forgive anyone’s sins, they are forgiven; if you retain anyone’s sins, they are retained.”

and the one who lives! I was dead, but look, now I am alive– forever and ever– and I hold the keys of death and of Hades!

If you forgive anyone for anything, I also forgive him– for indeed what I have forgiven( if I have forgiven anything) I did so for you in the presence of Christ,

“ To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write the following:“ This is the solemn pronouncement of the Holy One, the True One, who holds the key of David, who opens doors no one can shut, and shuts doors no one can open:

When you gather together in the name of our Lord Jesus, and I am with you in spirit, along with the power of our Lord Jesus,turn this man over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord.

Then the fifth angel blew his trumpet, and I saw a star that had fallen from the sky to the earth, and he was given the key to the shaft of the abyss.

These two have the power to close up the sky so that it does not rain during the time they are prophesying. They have power to turn the waters to blood and to strike the earth with every kind of plague whenever they want.

Consequently the one who rejects this is not rejecting human authority but God, who gives his Holy Spirit to you.

After there had been much debate, Peter stood up and said to them,“ Brothers, you know that some time ago God chose me to preach to the Gentiles so they would hear the message of the gospel and believe.

But Peter stood up with the eleven, raised his voice, and addressed them:“ You men of Judea and all you who live in Jerusalem, know this and listen carefully to what I say.In spite of what you think, these men are not drunk, for it is only nine o’clock in the morning.But this is what was spoken about through the prophet Joel:‘ And in the last days it will be,’ God says,‘ that I will pour out my Spirit on all people, and your sons and your daughters will prophesy, and your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams.Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy.And I will perform wonders in the sky above and miraculous signs on the earth below, blood and fire and clouds of smoke.The sun will be changed to darkness and the moon to blood before the great and glorious day of the Lord comes.And then everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’“ Men of Israel, listen to these words: Jesus the Nazarene, a man clearly attested to you by God with powerful deeds, wonders, and miraculous signs that God performed among you through him, just as you yourselves know–this man, who was handed over by the predetermined plan and foreknowledge of God, you executed by nailing him to a cross at the hands of Gentiles.But God raised him up, having released him from the pains of death, because it was not possible for him to be held in its power.For David says about him,‘ I saw the Lord always in front of me, for he is at my right hand so that I will not be shaken.Therefore my heart was glad and my tongue rejoiced; my body also will live in hope,because you will not leave my soul in Hades, nor permit your Holy One to experience decay.You have made known to me the paths of life; you will make me full of joy with your presence.’“ Brothers, I can speak confidently to you about our forefather David, that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.So then, because he was a prophet and knew that God had sworn to him with an oath to seat one of his descendants on his throne,David by foreseeing this spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, that he was neither abandoned to Hades, nor did his body experience decay.This Jesus God raised up, and we are all witnesses of it.So then, exalted to the right hand of God, and having received the promise of the Holy Spirit from the Father, he has poured out what you both see and hear.For David did not ascend into heaven, but he himself says,‘ The Lord said to my lord,“ Sit at my right handuntil I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.”’Therefore let all the house of Israel know beyond a doubt that God has made this Jesus whom you crucified both Lord and Christ.”Now when they heard this, they were acutely distressed and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles,“ What should we do, brothers?”Peter said to them,“ Repent, and each one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.For the promise is for you and your children, and for all who are far away, as many as the Lord our God will call to himself.”With many other words he testified and exhorted them saying,“ Save yourselves from this perverse generation!”So those who accepted his message were baptized, and that day about three thousand people were added.They were devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.

Then Peter started speaking:“ I now truly understand that God does not show favoritism in dealing with people,but in every nation the person who fears him and does what is right is welcomed before him.You know the message he sent to the people of Israel, proclaiming the good news of peace through Jesus Christ( he is Lord of all)–you know what happened throughout Judea, beginning from Galilee after the baptism that John announced:with respect to Jesus from Nazareth, that God anointed him with the Holy Spirit and with power. He went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, because God was with him.We are witnesses of all the things he did both in Judea and in Jerusalem. They killed him by hanging him on a tree,but God raised him up on the third day and caused him to be seen,not by all the people, but by us, the witnesses God had already chosen, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.He commanded us to preach to the people and to warn them that he is the one appointed by God as judge of the living and the dead.About him all the prophets testify, that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.”

Then I saw an angel descending from heaven, holding in his hand the key to the abyss and a huge chain.He seized the dragon– the ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan– and tied him up for a thousand years.The angel then threw him into the abyss and locked and sealed it so that he could not deceive the nations until the one thousand years were finished.( After these things he must be released for a brief period of time.)
