Here is what I tell you. You are Peter. On this rock I will build my church. The gates of hell will not be strong enough to destroy it.

So then you are no longer foreigners and noncitizens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of God’s household,because you have been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the cornerstone.In him the whole building, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord,in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.

We are coworkers belonging to God. You are God’s field, God’s building.According to the grace of God given to me, like a skilled master- builder I laid a foundation, but someone else builds on it. And each one must be careful how he builds.For no one can lay any foundation other than what is being laid, which is Jesus Christ.

Therefore, this is what the sovereign master, the LORD, says:“ Look, I am laying a stone in Zion, an approved stone, set in place as a precious cornerstone for the foundation. The one who maintains his faith will not panic.

Andrew brought Simon to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said,“ You are Simon, the son of John. You will be called Cephas”( which is translated Peter).

He is the head of the body, the church, as well as the beginning, the firstborn from among the dead, so that he himself may become first in all things.

Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion; it cannot be upended and will endure forever.As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the LORD surrounds his people, now and forevermore.

in case I am delayed, to let you know how people ought to conduct themselves in the household of God, because it is the church of the living God, the support and bulwark of the truth.

For he has come to deserve greater glory than Moses, just as the builder of a house deserves greater honor than the house itself!For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God.

Then say to him,‘ The LORD who rules over all says,“ Look– here is the man whose name is Branch, who will sprout up from his place and build the temple of the LORD.Indeed, he will build the temple of the LORD, and he will be clothed in splendor, sitting as king on his throne. Have the gates of death been revealed to you? Have you seen the gates of deepest darkness?

And Saul agreed completely with killing him. Now on that day a great persecution began against the church in Jerusalem, and all except the apostles were forced to scatter throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria.

If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church. If he refuses to listen to the church, treat him like a Gentile or a tax collector.

The purpose of this enlightenment is that through the church the multifaceted wisdom of God should now be disclosed to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly realms.

And you, Capernaum, will you be exalted to heaven? No, you will be thrown down to Hades! For if the miracles done among you had been done in Sodom, it would have continued to this day.

The wall of the city has twelve foundations, and on them are the twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

and when James, Cephas, and John, who had a reputation as pillars, recognized the grace that had been given to me, they gave to Barnabas and me the right hand of fellowship, agreeing that we would go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised.

This mystery is great– but I am actually speaking with reference to Christ and the church.

Now these are the names of the twelve apostles: first, Simon( called Peter), and Andrew his brother; James son of Zebedee and John his brother;

Husbands, love your wives just as Christ loved the church and gave himself for herto sanctify her by cleansing her with the washing of the water by the word,so that he may present the church to himself as glorious– not having a stain or wrinkle, or any such blemish, but holy and blameless.

So since we are receiving an unshakable kingdom, let us give thanks, and through this let us offer worship pleasing to God in devotion and awe.

Who will bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies.Who is the one who will condemn? Christ is the one who died( and more than that, he was raised), who is at the right hand of God, and who also is interceding for us.Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will trouble, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?As it is written,“ For your sake we encounter death all day long; we were considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”No, in all these things we have complete victory through him who loved us!For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor heavenly rulers, nor things that are present, nor things to come, nor powers,nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in creation will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

But if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for the church of God?

“ I thought,‘ In the middle of my life I must walk through the gates of Sheol, I am deprived of the rest of my years.’

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and earth had ceased to exist, and the sea existed no more.And I saw the holy city– the new Jerusalem– descending out of heaven from God, made ready like a bride adorned for her husband.And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying:“ Look! The residence of God is among human beings. He will live among them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them.He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death will not exist any more– or mourning, or crying, or pain, for the former things have ceased to exist.”

I will indeed bless you, and I will greatly multiply your descendants so that they will be as countless as the stars in the sky or the grains of sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession of the strongholds of their enemies.

Then the seventh angel blew his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven saying:“ The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he will reign for ever and ever.”

Those who sit at the city gate gossip about me; drunkards mock me in their songs.

“ Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?”

Then the king said to them,“ I will do whatever seems best to you.” So the king stayed beside the city gate, while all the army marched out by hundreds and by thousands.

He will give discernment to the one who makes judicial decisions, and strength to those who defend the city from attackers.

They lost their appetite for all food, and they drew near the gates of death.

How blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! They will not be put to shame when they confront enemies at the city gate.
