But Jesus knowing in himself that his disciples murmured at this, said to them,“ Does this cause you to stumble?Then what if you would see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before?It is the spirit who gives life. The flesh profits nothing. This you know, that all who are in Asia turned away from me, of whom are Phygelus and Hermogenes.

Jesus answered them,“ Most certainly I tell you, you seek me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate of the loaves, and were filled.

Blessed are those who have been persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.“ Blessed are you when people reproach you, persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely, for my sake.Rejoice, and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven. For that is how they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

being confident of this very thing, that he who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.

If he shrinks back, my soul has no pleasure in him.”But we are not of those who shrink back to destruction, but of those who have faith to the saving of the soul.
