說：『大人，我們記得那迷惑人者還活着的時候曾經說過：「三天以後我要活起來」。所以請發命令將墓把守妥當、直到第三天；恐怕他門徒來了，把他偷去，卻告訴人民說：「他從死人中活了起來」；這樣，那末後的迷惑就比先前的更厲害了。』

耶穌回答他們說：『你們毁壞這殿堂，我三天以內必使它復起。』

他們必殺害他；第三天他必得甦活起來。』門徒就極其憂愁。

說：『我從急難中呼求永恆主，你就應了我；我從陰間腹中呼救，你就聽了我的聲音。你將我投下海中心、極深之處；大水環繞着我，你的洪濤、你的波浪、都漫過我。我心裏說：「我既被驅逐、離開你眼前，怎能再仰望你的聖殿堂呢？」眾水圍困着我到不能呼吸；深淵環繞着我；海草纏着我的頭在山根兒之處。我下到地府，其門閂永遠攔隔着我；但永恆主我的上帝啊，你卻將我的性命從冥坑中拉上去。

說：『你這拆毁殿堂、三天以內建造起來的、救你自己吧！你如果是上帝的兒子，從十字架上下來吧！』

但那尋索我命、要毁滅我命的人必往地府之最底處；

耶穌對他說：『狐狸有洞，空中的飛鳥有窩，惟獨人子沒有枕頭的地方！』
