And Levi gave a big reception for Him in his house; and there was a large crowd of tax collectors and other people who were reclining at the table with them.The Pharisees and their scribes began grumbling to His disciples, saying,“ Why do you eat and drink with the tax collectors and sinners?”

It happened that when He went into the house of one of the leaders of the Pharisees on the Sabbath to eat bread, they were watching Him closely.

Then it happened that as Jesus was reclining at the table in the house, behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and began dining with Jesus and His disciples.And when the Pharisees saw this, they said to His disciples,“ Why is your Teacher eating with the tax collectors and sinners?”

When the people saw this, they all began to complain, saying,“ He has gone in to be the guest of a man who is a sinner!”

When all the people and the tax collectors heard this, they acknowledged God’s justice, having been baptized with the baptism of John.

Now all the tax collectors and sinners were coming near Jesus to listen to Him.And both the Pharisees and the scribes began to complain, saying,“ This man receives sinners and eats with them.”

but to those who are the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.For the foolishness of God is wiser than mankind, and the weakness of God is stronger than mankind.For consider your calling, brothers and sisters, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble;but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong,and the insignificant things of the world and the despised God has chosen, the things that are not, so that He may nullify the things that are,so that no human may boast before God.

How great are Your works, Lord! Your thoughts are very deep.A stupid person has no knowledge, Nor does a foolish person understand this:

and both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding.

Each of us is to please his neighbor for his good, to his edification.

So they made Him a dinner there, and Martha was serving; and Lazarus was one of those reclining at the table with Him.Mary then took a pound of very expensive perfume of pure nard, and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped His feet with her hair; and the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.But Judas Iscariot, one of His disciples, the one who intended to betray Him,* said,“ Why was this perfume not sold for three hundred denarii and the proceeds given to poor people?”Now he said this, not because he cared about the poor, but because he was a thief, and as he kept the money box, he used to steal from what was put into it.Therefore Jesus said,“ Leave her alone, so that she may keep it for the day of My burial.For you always have the poor with you, but you do not always have Me.”

saying,“ Amen, blessing, glory, wisdom, thanksgiving, honor, power, and might belong to our God forever and ever. Amen.”

Wisdom is in the presence of one who has understanding, But the eyes of a fool are on the ends of the earth.

To me, the very least of all saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unfathomable riches of Christ,and to enlighten all people as to what the plan of the mystery is which for ages has been hidden in God, who created all things;so that the multifaceted wisdom of God might now be made known through the church to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly places.
