『人來找我，除非少愛自己的父親、母親、妻子、弟兄、姐妹、甚至於自己的性命、就不能做我的門徒。

耶穌對他說：『要用你完全的心、完全的性命、完全的精神、愛主你的上帝。

但從前於我為贏得的、這一切、我為基督的緣故都看做虧損了。不但如此，為了要得認識我主基督耶穌——這種認識之至寶，我竟將萬事都看做虧損了；為了他，我已經虧損了一切，看做糞土，為要贏得基督，而常在他裏面；不是有我自己的義、那以律法為本的義，乃是有那憑着信基督的義、那由上帝而來、以信為條件的義；

基督的愛催迫着我們；我們斷定：一個人既替眾人死了，眾人就都是死了。他替眾人死，是要叫活着的人不再為自己而活，乃要為那替他們死而得甦活起來的活。

對他自己的父母利未是說：我沒有看見；他的弟兄、他不承認，他的兒女、他不認識；因為利未人謹守你說的話，你的約他們恪守着。

他們既喫了早飯，耶穌就對西門彼得說：『約翰的兒子西門，你深愛我、比愛這些更深麼？』彼得對耶穌說：『主啊，是的；你知道我愛你。』耶穌對他說：『你餵養我的羔羊。』耶穌第二次又對西門彼得說：『約翰的兒子西門，你深愛我麼？』彼得對耶穌說：『主啊，是的；你知道我愛你。』耶穌對他說：『你牧養我的小羊。』耶穌第三次對西門彼得說：『約翰的兒子西門，你愛我麼？』彼得因耶穌第三次對他說『你愛我麼？』就憂愁，對耶穌說：『主啊，你知道一切，知道我愛你。』耶穌對他說：『你餵養我的小羊。』

叫人都尊敬子，像尊敬父一樣。不尊敬子的，就是不尊敬差他的父。

這正是上帝公義審判的明證，要使你們算為配得起上帝之國的；你們就是為着這國而受苦的。因為上帝所看為公義的就是：當主耶穌從天上同他有能力的天使在火燄中顯示出來時將患難報應那加患難給你們的人，而將鬆息還報你們、連同我們、受患難緊逼的人、

你們要時刻覺醒，時常祈禱，使你們得勝，能逃避這一切要來的事，得以站在人子面前。』

但那算為配得「他世」的、配得起從死人中起來之復活的、也不娶也不嫁。

隨後就對他的奴僕說：「婚筵是已經齊備了，被請的人呢、卻配不上。

不過你還有多少名在撒狄、沒有使衣裳沾染污穢的；他們必穿白衣，跟我同行、因為他們是配得的。
