Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he shall guide you into all the truth: for he shall not speak from himself; but what things soever he shall hear, these shall he speak: and he shall declare unto you the things that are to come.

These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be caused to stumble.

His disciples say, Lo, now speakest thou plainly, and speakest no dark saying.

saying, We strictly charged you not to teach in this name: and behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your teaching, and intend to bring this man’s blood upon us.

Wisdom crieth aloud in the street; She uttereth her voice in the broad places;She crieth in the chief place of concourse; At the entrance of the gates, In the city, she uttereth her words:How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? And scoffers delight them in scoffing, And fools hate knowledge?Turn you at my reproof: Behold, I will pour out my spirit upon you; I will make known my words unto you.

And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to the rest in parables; that seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.

On that day went Jesus out of the house, and sat by the sea side.And there were gathered unto him great multitudes, so that he entered into a boat, and sat; and all the multitude stood on the beach.And he spake to them many things in parables, saying, Behold, the sower went forth to sow;and as he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the birds came and devoured them:and others fell upon the rocky places, where they had not much earth: and straightway they sprang up, because they had no deepness of earth:and when the sun was risen, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.And others fell upon the thorns; and the thorns grew up and choked them:and others fell upon the good ground, and yielded fruit, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.He that hath ears, let him hear.And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?And he answered and said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that which he hath.Therefore speak I to them in parables; because seeing they see not, and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.And unto them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall in no wise understand; And seeing ye shall see, and shall in no wise perceive:For this people’s heart is waxed gross, And their ears are dull of hearing, And their eyes they have closed; Lest haply they should perceive with their eyes, And hear with their ears, And understand with their heart, And should turn again, And I should heal them.But blessed are your eyes, for they see; and your ears, for they hear.For verily I say unto you, that many prophets and righteous men desired to see the things which ye see, and saw them not; and to hear the things which ye hear, and heard them not.

Having therefore such a hope, we use great boldness of speech,

Doth not wisdom cry, And understanding put forth her voice?On the top of high places by the way, Where the paths meet, she standeth;Beside the gates, at the entry of the city, At the coming in at the doors, she crieth aloud:Unto you, O men, I call; And my voice is to the sons of men.O ye simple, understand prudence; And, ye fools, be of an understanding heart.

All these things spake Jesus in parables unto the multitudes; and without a parable spake he nothing unto them:that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things hidden from the foundation of the world.

These things have I spoken unto you in dark sayings: the hour cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in dark sayings, but shall tell you plainly of the Father.

So he reasoned in the synagogue with the Jews and the devout persons, and in the marketplace every day with them that met him.
