不要相信鄰居，不要信賴朋友，即使對你懷中的妻子也要守口如瓶。因為兒子藐視父親，女兒與母親作對，媳婦與婆婆作對；家人之間反目成仇。

你們將被父母、弟兄、親戚、朋友出賣，你們有些人會被他們害死。你們將為我的名而被眾人憎恨，

那時，許多人會放棄信仰，互相出賣，彼此憎恨。

「那時，人必把自己的弟兄置於死地，父親必把兒子置於死地，兒女必反叛父母，置他們於死地。你們將為我的名而被眾人憎恨，但堅忍到底的必定得救。

你們以為我來是要使天下太平嗎？不，我告訴你們，我來是要使地上起紛爭。從今以後，一家五口會彼此相爭，三個人反對兩個人，或是兩個人反對三個人，父子相爭，母女對立，婆媳反目。」

若有人再說預言，他的親生父母必對他說，『你不得活命，因為你奉耶和華的名說謊。』他說預言的時候，他的親生父母必把他刺死。

「不要以為我來了會讓天下太平，我並非帶來和平，乃是帶來刀劍。因為我來是要叫兒子與父親作對，女兒與母親作對，媳婦與婆婆作對，家人之間反目成仇。

亞希多弗對押沙龍說：「讓我挑選一萬二千人，今夜啟程追趕大衛，趁他疲憊無力的時候襲擊他，使他驚慌失措，他的部下必逃命。我只把王一個人殺掉，把他的部下全都帶來歸順你。你尋索的人既然死了，跟隨他的人必然會歸順你。這樣，大家就平安無事了。」押沙龍和以色列的長老都贊成這個提議。

大衛對亞比篩和他所有臣僕說：「我的親生兒子尚且要取我的命，何況這個便雅憫人呢？由他去吧！因為這是耶和華的意思。

我的密友都憎惡我，我愛的人也反對我。
