When you are arrested, don’t worry about how to respond or what to say. God will give you the right words at the right time.

爾被解時勿慮將如何言、當作何語；屆時必示爾所當言；

But when they arrest you, do not worry about what to say or how to say it. At that time you will be given what to say,

But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak.

Whenever they hand you over for trial, do not worry about how to speak or what to say, for what you should say will be given to you at that time.

But when they deliver you up, don’t be anxious how or what you will say, for it will be given you in that hour what you will say.

But when you are arrested and stand trial, don’t worry in advance about what to say. Just say what God tells you at that time, for it is not you who will be speaking, but the Holy Spirit.“ A brother will betray his brother to death, a father will betray his own child, and children will rebel against their parents and cause them to be killed.And everyone will hate you because you are my followers. But the one who endures to the end will be saved.

Now go! I will be with you as you speak, and I will instruct you in what to say.”

“ And when you are brought to trial in the synagogues and before rulers and authorities, don’t worry about how to defend yourself or what to say,

“ That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life— whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing?

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego replied,“ O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you.If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God whom we serve is able to save us. He will rescue us from your power, Your Majesty.But even if he doesn’t, we want to make it clear to you, Your Majesty, that we will never serve your gods or worship the gold statue you have set up.”

“ So don’t worry about these things, saying,‘ What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’

But the Lord stood with me and gave me strength so that I might preach the Good News in its entirety for all the Gentiles to hear. And he rescued me from certain death.

Talk to him, and put the words in his mouth. I will be with both of you as you speak, and I will instruct you both in what to do.

Then the Lord reached out and touched my mouth and said,“ Look, I have put my words in your mouth!

The Lord replied,“ Don’t say,‘ I’m too young,’ for you must go wherever I send you and say whatever I tell you.

“ But before all this occurs, there will be a time of great persecution. You will be dragged into synagogues and prisons, and you will stand trial before kings and governors because you are my followers.But this will be your opportunity to tell them about me.So don’t worry in advance about how to answer the charges against you,for I will give you the right words and such wisdom that none of your opponents will be able to reply or refute you!Even those closest to you— your parents, brothers, relatives, and friends— will betray you. They will even kill some of you.And everyone will hate you because you are my followers.

Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them,“ Rulers and elders of our people,are we being questioned today because we’ve done a good deed for a crippled man? Do you want to know how he was healed?Let me clearly state to all of you and to all the people of Israel that he was healed by the powerful name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, the man you crucified but whom God raised from the dead.For Jesus is the one referred to in the Scriptures, where it says,‘ The stone that you builders rejected has now become the cornerstone.’There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.”The members of the council were amazed when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, for they could see that they were ordinary men with no special training in the Scriptures. They also recognized them as men who had been with Jesus.But since they could see the man who had been healed standing right there among them, there was nothing the council could say.

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.

But Peter and the apostles replied,“ We must obey God rather than any human authority.The God of our ancestors raised Jesus from the dead after you killed him by hanging him on a cross.Then God put him in the place of honor at his right hand as Prince and Savior. He did this so the people of Israel would repent of their sins and be forgiven.We are witnesses of these things and so is the Holy Spirit, who is given by God to those who obey him.”When they heard this, the high council was furious and decided to kill them.

“ So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.

None of them could stand against the wisdom and the Spirit with which Stephen spoke.

If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.

“ I am fortunate, King Agrippa, that you are the one hearing my defense today against all these accusations made by the Jewish leaders,for I know you are an expert on all Jewish customs and controversies. Now please listen to me patiently!“ As the Jewish leaders are well aware, I was given a thorough Jewish training from my earliest childhood among my own people and in Jerusalem.If they would admit it, they know that I have been a member of the Pharisees, the strictest sect of our religion.Now I am on trial because of my hope in the fulfillment of God’s promise made to our ancestors.In fact, that is why the twelve tribes of Israel zealously worship God night and day, and they share the same hope I have. Yet, Your Majesty, they accuse me for having this hope!Why does it seem incredible to any of you that God can raise the dead?“ I used to believe that I ought to do everything I could to oppose the very name of Jesus the Nazarene.Indeed, I did just that in Jerusalem. Authorized by the leading priests, I caused many believers there to be sent to prison. And I cast my vote against them when they were condemned to death.Many times I had them punished in the synagogues to get them to curse Jesus. I was so violently opposed to them that I even chased them down in foreign cities.
