“ Behold, I am sending My messenger, and he will clear a way before Me. And the Lord, whom you are seeking, will suddenly come to His temple; and the messenger of the covenant, in whom you delight, behold, He is coming,” says the Lord of armies.

万军之耶和华说：“看哪！我派我的使者，在我前面预备道路；你们所寻求的主，必忽然进入他的殿；你们所爱慕立约的使者，就要来到。”

万军之耶和华说：“看哪，我要派遣我的使者在我前面预备道路！你们所寻求的主，必突然来到他的殿；看哪，你们所喜悦的那立约的使者，就要来到！”

萬軍之耶和華說：「看哪，我要派遣我的使者在我前面預備道路！你們所尋求的主，必突然來到他的殿；看哪，你們所喜悅的那立約的使者，就要來到！」

“ I will send my messenger, who will prepare the way before me. Then suddenly the Lord you are seeking will come to his temple; the messenger of the covenant, whom you desire, will come,” says the Lord Almighty.

The Lord who rules over all says,“ I will send my messenger. He will prepare my way for me. Then suddenly the Lord you are looking for will come to his temple. The messenger of the covenant will come. He is the one you long for.”

“ Behold, I send my messenger, and he will prepare the way before me. And the Lord whom you seek will suddenly come to his temple; and the messenger of the covenant in whom you delight, behold, he is coming, says the Lord of hosts.

“ Look! I am sending my messenger, and he will prepare the way before me. Then the Lord you are seeking will suddenly come to his Temple. The messenger of the covenant, whom you look for so eagerly, is surely coming,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.

“ See, I am going to send my messenger, and he will clear the way before me. Then the Lord you seek will suddenly come to his temple, the Messenger of the covenant you delight in— see, he is coming,” says the LORD of Armies.

“ Behold, I send My messenger, And he will prepare the way before Me. And the Lord, whom you seek, Will suddenly come to His temple, Even the Messenger of the covenant, In whom you delight. Behold, He is coming,” Says the Lord of hosts.

Behold, I send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, will suddenly come to his temple; and the messenger of the covenant, whom ye desire, behold, he cometh, saith Jehovah of hosts.

“ See, I am going to send My messenger, and he will clear the way before Me. Then the Lord you seek will suddenly come to His temple, the Messenger of the covenant you desire— see, He is coming,” says the Lord of Hosts.

Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts.

“ I am about to send my messenger, who will clear the way before me. Indeed, the Lord you are seeking will suddenly come to his temple, and the messenger of the covenant, whom you long for, is certainly coming,” says the LORD who rules over all.

“ Behold, I send my messenger, and he will prepare the way before me; and the Lord, whom you seek, will suddenly come to his temple; and the messenger of the covenant, whom you desire, behold, he comes!” says Yahweh of Armies.

“ Behold, I am going to send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and terrible day of the Lord.

And you, child, also will be called the prophet of the Most High; For you will go on before the Lord to prepare His ways;

In all their distress He was distressed, And the angel of His presence saved them; In His love and in His mercy He redeemed them, And He lifted them and carried them all the days of old.

Paul said,“ John baptized with a baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in Him who was coming after him, that is, in Jesus.”

For the lips of a priest should maintain knowledge, and people should seek instruction from his mouth; for he is the messenger of the Lord of armies.

A man came, one sent from God, and his name was John.He came as a witness, to testify about the Light, so that all might believe through him.

just as it is written in Isaiah the prophet:“ Behold, I am sending My messenger before You, Who will prepare Your way;The voice of one calling out in the wilderness,‘ Prepare the way of the Lord, Make His paths straight!’ ”

For a Child will be born to us, a Son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.

And His disciples asked Him,“ Why then do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?”And He answered and said,“ Elijah is coming and will restore all things;but I say to you that Elijah already came, and they did not recognize him, but did to him whatever they wanted. So also the Son of Man is going to suffer at their hands.”Then the disciples understood that He had spoken to them about John the Baptist.

This is the one about whom it is written:‘ Behold, I am sending My messenger ahead of You, Who will prepare Your way before You.’Truly I say to you, among those born of women there has not arisen anyone greater than John the Baptist! Yet the one who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.

But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and one who is more than a prophet.This is the one about whom it is written:‘ Behold, I am sending My messenger ahead of You, Who will prepare Your way before You.’I say to you, among those born of women there is no one greater than John; yet the one who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.”

And when eight days were completed so that it was time for His circumcision, He was also named Jesus, the name given by the angel before He was conceived in the womb.And when the days for their purification according to the Law of Moses were completed, they brought Him up to Jerusalem to present Him to the Lord( as it is written in the Law of the Lord:“ Every firstborn male that opens the womb shall be called holy to the Lord”),and to offer a sacrifice according to what has been stated in the Law of the Lord:“ A pair of turtledoves or two young doves.”And there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon; and this man was righteous and devout, looking forward to the consolation of Israel; and the Holy Spirit was upon him.And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Christ.And he came by the Spirit into the temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to carry out for Him the custom of the Law,then he took Him in his arms, and blessed God, and said,“ Now, Lord, You are letting Your bond servant depart in peace, According to Your word;For my eyes have seen Your salvation,Which You have prepared in the presence of all the peoples:A light for revelation for the Gentiles, And the glory of Your people Israel.”

And He was teaching daily in the temple; but the chief priests and the scribes and the leading men among the people were trying to put Him to death,

“ Behold, I am going to send an angel before you to guard you along the way and to bring you into the place which I have prepared.

Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and she will name Him Immanuel.

The voice of one calling out,“ Clear the way for the Lord in the wilderness; Make straight in the desert a highway for our God.Let every valley be lifted up, And every mountain and hill be made low; And let the uneven ground become a plain, And the rugged terrain a broad valley;Then the glory of the Lord will be revealed, And all flesh will see it together; For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”

This is the one who was in the assembly in the wilderness together with the angel who spoke to him at length on Mount Sinai, and who was with our fathers; and he received living words to pass on to you.

I will shake all the nations; and they will come with the wealth of all nations, and I will fill this house with glory,’ says the Lord of armies.‘ The silver is Mine and the gold is Mine,’ declares the Lord of armies.‘ The latter glory of this house will be greater than the former,’ says the Lord of armies,‘ and in this place I will give peace,’ declares the Lord of armies.”

And at that very moment she came up and began giving thanks to God, and continued to speak about Him to all those who were looking forward to the redemption of Jerusalem.

You yourselves are my witnesses that I said,‘ I am not the Christ,’ but,‘ I have been sent ahead of Him.’He who has the bride is the groom; but the friend of the groom, who stands and listens to him, rejoices greatly because of the groom’s voice. So this joy of mine has been made full.He must increase, but I must decrease.

And after summoning two of his disciples, John sent them to the Lord, saying,“ Are You the Coming One, or are we to look for another?”When the men came to Him, they said,“ John the Baptist has sent us to You, to ask,‘ Are You the Coming One, or are we to look for another?’ ”

Then, after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions.

And he will turn many of the sons of Israel back to the Lord their God.And it is he who will go as a forerunner before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of fathers back to their children, and the disobedient to the attitude of the righteous, to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”

And he came into all the region around the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins;as it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet:“ The voice of one calling out in the wilderness,‘ Prepare the way of the Lord, Make His paths straight!Every ravine will be filled, And every mountain and hill will be lowered; The crooked will become straight, And the rough roads smooth;And all flesh will see the salvation of God!’ ”

And I did not recognize Him, but He who sent me to baptize in water said to me,‘ He upon whom you see the Spirit descending and remaining upon Him, this is the One who baptizes in the Holy Spirit.’And I myself have seen, and have testified that this is the Son of God.”

The Lord says to my Lord:“ Sit at My right hand Until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet.”

And within the temple grounds He found those who were selling oxen, sheep, and doves, and the money changers seated at their tables.And He made a whip of cords, and drove them all out of the temple area, with the sheep and the oxen; and He poured out the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables;and to those who were selling the doves He said,“ Take these things away from here; stop making My Father’s house a place of business!”

And he blessed Joseph, and said,“ The God before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac walked, The God who has been my shepherd all my life to this day,The angel who has redeemed me from all evil, Bless the boys; And may my name live on in them, And the names of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; And may they grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth.”

In the womb he took his brother by the heel, And in his mature strength he contended with God.Yes, he wrestled with the angel and prevailed; He wept and implored His favor. He found Him at Bethel, And there He spoke with us,And the Lord, the God of armies, The Lord is His name.

after John had proclaimed, before His coming, a baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.And while John was completing his course, he kept saying,‘ What do you suppose that I am? I am not He. But behold, one is coming after me, the sandals of whose feet I am not worthy to untie.’

Now in those days John the Baptist* came, preaching in the wilderness of Judea, saying,“ Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”For this is the one referred to by Isaiah the prophet when he said,“ The voice of one calling out in the wilderness,‘ Prepare the way of the Lord, Make His paths straight!’ ”

for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

John* testified about Him and called out, saying,“ This was He of whom I said,‘ He who is coming after me has proved to be my superior, because He existed before me.’ ”For of His fullness we have all received, and grace upon grace.For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth were realized through Jesus Christ.No one has seen God at any time; God the only Son, who is in the arms of the Father, He has explained Him.This is the testimony of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites to him from Jerusalem to ask him,“ Who are you?”And he confessed and did not deny; and this is what he confessed:“ I am not the Christ.”And so they asked him,“ What then? Are you Elijah?” And he* said,“ I am not.”“ Are you the Prophet?” And he answered,“ No.”Then they said to him,“ Who are you? Tell us, so that we may give an answer to those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?”He said,“ I am the voice of one calling out in the wilderness,‘ Make the way of the Lord straight,’ as Isaiah the prophet said.”
