You have wearied the Lord with your words.“ How have we wearied him?” you ask. By saying,“ All who do evil are good in the eyes of the Lord, and he is pleased with them” or“ Where is the God of justice?”

You have worn out the Lord by what you keep saying.“ How have we worn him out?” you ask. You have done it by saying,“ All those who do evil things are good in the Lord’ s sight. And he is pleased with them.” Or you ask,“ Is God really fair?”

You have wearied the Lord with your words. But you say,“ How have we wearied him?” By saying,“ Everyone who does evil is good in the sight of the Lord, and he delights in them.” Or by asking,“ Where is the God of justice?”

You have wearied the Lord with your words.“ How have we wearied him?” you ask. You have wearied him by saying that all who do evil are good in the Lord’s sight, and he is pleased with them. You have wearied him by asking,“ Where is the God of justice?”

You have wearied the LORD with your words. Yet you ask,“ How have we wearied him?” When you say,“ Everyone who does what is evil is good in the LORD’s sight, and he is delighted with them, or else where is the God of justice?”

Ye have wearied Jehovah with your words. Yet ye say, Wherein have we wearied him? In that ye say, Every one that doeth evil is good in the sight of Jehovah, and he delighteth in them; or where is the God of justice?

You have wearied the Lord with your words. Yet you ask,“ How have we wearied Him?” When you say,“ Everyone who does what is evil is good in the Lord’s sight, and He is pleased with them,” or“ Where is the God of justice?”

Ye have wearied the LORD with your words. Yet ye say, Wherein have we wearied[ him]? When ye say, Every one that doeth evil[ is] good in the sight of the LORD, and he delighteth in them; or, Where[ is] the God of judgment?

You have wearied the LORD with your words. But you say,“ How have we wearied him?” Because you say,“ Everyone who does evil is good in the Lord’s opinion, and he delights in them,” or“ Where is the God of justice?”

You have wearied Yahweh with your words. Yet you say,‘ How have we wearied him?’ In that you say,‘ Everyone who does evil is good in Yahweh’s sight, and he delights in them;’ or‘ Where is the God of justice?’

You have not bought Me sweet cane with money, Nor have you satisfied Me with the fat of your sacrifices; Rather, you have burdened Me with your sins, You have wearied Me with your wrongdoings.

Because the sentence against an evil deed is not executed quickly, therefore the hearts of the sons of mankind among them are fully given to do evil.

Woe to those who drag wrongdoing with the cords of deceit, And sin as if with cart ropes;Who say,“ Let Him hurry, let Him do His work quickly, so that we may see it; And let the plan of the Holy One of Israel approach And come to pass, so that we may know it!”Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness; Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!

And it will come about at that time That I will search Jerusalem with lamps, And I will punish the people Who are stagnant in spirit, Who say in their hearts,‘ The Lord will not do good nor harm!’

For I was envious of the arrogant As I saw the prosperity of the wicked.For there are no pains in their death, And their belly is fat.They are not in trouble like other people, Nor are they tormented together with the rest of mankind.Therefore arrogance is their necklace; The garment of violence covers them.Their eye bulges from fatness; The imaginations of their heart overflow.They mock and wickedly speak of oppression; They speak from on high.They have set their mouth against the heavens, And their tongue parades through the earth.Therefore his people return here, And abundant waters are drunk by them.They say,“ How does God know? And is there knowledge with the Most High?”Behold, these are the wicked; And always at ease, they have increased in wealth.Surely in vain I have kept my heart pure And washed my hands in innocence;For I have been stricken all day long, And punished every morning.If I had said,“ I will speak this way,” Behold, I would have betrayed the generation of Your children.

Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts,and saying,“ Where is the promise of His coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue just as they were from the beginning of creation.”

Then He said to me,“ The guilt of the house of Israel and Judah is very, very great, and the land is filled with blood, and the city is full of perversion; for they say,‘ The Lord has abandoned the land, and the Lord does not see!’

“ But you were full of judgment on the wicked; Judgment and justice take hold of you.

You who have forsaken Me,” declares the Lord,“ You keep going backward. So I will stretch out My hand against you and destroy you; I am tired of relenting!

“ Would anyone rob God? Yet you are robbing Me! But you say,‘ How have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings.

Therefore the Lord longs to be gracious to you, And therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you. For the Lord is a God of justice; How blessed are all those who long for Him.

For Job has said,‘ I am righteous, But God has taken away my right;Should I lie about my right? My wound is incurable, though I am without wrongdoing.’What man is like Job, Who drinks up derision like water,Who goes in company with the workers of injustice, And walks with wicked people?For he has said,‘ It is of no use to a man When he becomes friends with God.’

Then he said,“ Listen now, house of David! Is it too trivial a thing for you to try the patience of men, that you will try the patience of my God as well?

The Rock! His work is perfect, For all His ways are just; A God of faithfulness and without injustice, Righteous and just is He.

Yet you say,“ For what reason?” Because the Lord has been a witness between you and the wife of your youth, against whom you have dealt treacherously, though she is your marriage companion and your wife by covenant.

Oh that Job were tested to the limit, Because he answers like sinners.

“ Your words have been arrogant against Me,” says the Lord.“ Yet you say,‘ What have we spoken against You?’You have said,‘ It is pointless to serve God; and what benefit is it for us that we have done what He required, and that we have walked in mourning before the Lord of armies?So now we call the arrogant blessed; not only are the doers of wickedness built up, but they also put God to the test and escape punishment.’ ”

Since you have not remembered the days of your youth but have caused Me unrest by all these things, behold, I in turn will bring your conduct down on your own head,” declares the Lord God,“ so that you will not commit this outrageous sin in addition to all your other abominations.

Behold, I am making a rut in the ground beneath you, Just as a wagon makes a rut when filled with sheaves.

“ When your fathers put Me to the test, They tested Me, though they had seen My work.For forty years I was disgusted with that generation, And said they are a people who err in their heart, And they do not know My ways.

“ ‘ A son honors his father, and a servant his master. Then if I am a father, where is My honor? And if I am a master, where is My respect?’ says the Lord of armies to you, the priests who despise My name! But you say,‘ How have we despised Your name?’You are presenting defiled food upon My altar. But you say,‘ How have we defiled You?’ In that you say,‘ The table of the Lord is to be despised.’

He says to himself,“ God has forgotten; He has hidden His face; He will never see it.”Arise, Lord; God, lift up Your hand. Do not forget the humble.Why has the wicked treated God disrespectfully? He has said to himself,“ You will not require an account.”

I hate your new moon festivals and your appointed feasts, They have become a burden to Me; I am tired of bearing them.

Then He said to me,“ Do you see, son of man, what the elders of the house of Israel are doing in the dark, each man in the rooms of his carved images? For they say,‘ The Lord does not see us; the Lord has abandoned the land.’ ”

Shall one who hates justice rule? And will you condemn the righteous mighty One,

For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say,‘ He has a demon!’The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say,‘ Behold, a gluttonous man and a heavy drinker, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ And yet wisdom is vindicated by her deeds.”

Do not go on boasting so very proudly, Do not let arrogance come out of your mouth; For the Lord is a God of knowledge, And with Him actions are weighed.
